“Convenient and well-priced for what it offers”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

We only have 4 days in Osaka and wanted to head to Nara as well so didn't want to waste too much time on the road. This hotel was easily accessible via the train from Kansai Airport and well-located for sight-seeing around the city and to Nara.

Room: We got a double room. The room was small but this is Japan and we've stayed in smaller rooms with dearer prices so no complaints about the room! The bathroom was actually larger than what we've come to expect from similarly-priced accomodation (bearing in mind that great location near the train station!) so this was a big bonus since my husband is about 6 ft tall.

Room and bathroom were clean and had basic amenities, pajamas and slippers. There was also a small heating device for those who like to have some hot water to make coffee or tea - there are small complimentary packets in the room. Great in winter!

Food: We did not eat in the hotel but plenty of restaurants in the vicinity including the nearby sheltered walkway, train station and malls. Do note that although the dept store closes at about 8 or 9 pm, the restaurants which are usually located on the higher floors close around 10 or 11 pm! So if you're at a mall, just look for signs leading to the lifts that will bring you to the higher floors if you want to get a late bite.

There's a guy who sells takoyaki out of the back of his van at night near the hotel entrance. 8 for 500 yen - do get some, they are really tasty! He even threw in 2 free for us! He doesn't seem to turn up if it's raining so do buy some if you chance to see him while you're there!

Service: Polite and courteous. Staff spoke basic english.

Location: Great if you want to stay in Umeda. We weren't impressed with the Namba area and were happy to stay in Umeda. We got the 2-day Osaka tourist pass at the tourist centre which provided unlimited subway rides in the city and free entrance to plenty of popular sights. Very value for money!

We got lost trying to find the hotel initially and realised the easiest way from Osaka station is via Sakurabashi Gate. When you're at Sakurabashi Gate, walk out of the station (pass a large bakery) and you'll find yourself at a traffic crossing. Opposite the traffic crossing is a sheltered tunnel filled with cafes and restaurants (somewhat like a food street). Walk through the entire tunnel and you'll see the hotel across the road! It's only a 3 - 5 mins walk once you're out of Osaka station.

Wifi: Free wifi in the room and lobby, very convenient.

Overall within our expectations for what we paid for and the location can't be beat. Will definitely stay at this hotel again if we're in Osaka.

I was there with my friends in Jan'13, the location's good, we can walk easily to JR - Osaka Station, subway - Umeda Station, or subway - Nishi Umeda Station, and also we can walk around 5 mins to reach the airport limo back to KIX.
There are so many places around the hotel; Yodobashi Camera, department stores, Hep Five, Umeda Sky Building, and many restaurants.

First thing we needed to do when we got there was to do laundry. Wow... pretty sketchy. It was located in the basement floor and near what looked like a service entrance... so yes it was outside.

The rooms are a decent size (for Japan) and the bathroom was pretty spacious with good water pressure and temperature. The bed was a little stiff but the comforter was nice and soft and (just like another hotel we stayed at in Hiroshima) the pillows seemed to be soft on one side and super hard on the other. I like how the room light switch was attached to the bed frame. Very convenient since it was pretty hard to navigate around my luggage just to pull my hotel room key from the slot.

The hotel came with English translation for everything.. and most of the translation was pretty funny to read. Free wi-fi only in the lobby but they have comfortable chairs and tables set aside just for that so it wasn't too cumbersome just to go downstairs for some internet time.

It is in a great location. If you exit the Osaka Umeda Station through the Sakurabashi gate, cross the street and pass through another inside shopping area, the hotel will be right there. I had a sprained ankle and a big suitcase so the walk wasn't that great... especially since we got lost as soon as we exited our train. But once we were settled and suitcase-less, the JR trains were right there and it was easy to find the subway lines that we needed to take, also.

All in all, great hotel and awesome location. Would definitely stay here again if ever in Umeda.

Arrived by train in Osaka during Golden Week and the station was a mass of travellers. After a bit of hit and miss we found the Sakurabashi Exit and after crossing the pedestrian lights and down an adjacent arcade/mall we were almost on the Hotel's front door. It's that close!

Motel is a little bit tired and would probably benefit from a refit. Our room was a good size compared to most of the Hotels we stayed at. The beds firm but comfortable. The window opened and the fresh air was appreciated. Even though the Hotel is close to the Osaka station it was quiet. Vending machine for drinks on each floor. WiFi not available in rooms but is in lobby. The lobby WiFi is quite fast. Staff friendly and attentive. Breakfast was one of the best we had during our holiday. Lots of options and well stocked - well worth the money. Whilst it isn't close to any particular attraction its proximity to the Station means you are only a subway ride away from them all.

Only down side was the room was heated and cooled by a thermostat style unit (not a stand alone air conditioner). It had trouble maintaining a constant temperature so during the night we alternated between cold and hot!

A good hotel in a good location - worth considering.

Room Tip: Room not facing the railway line are quieter.

Biggest room of the hotels I stayed in while in Japan. Great hotel to base yourself in when touring around Japan as they will look after luggage. Stayed here 3 times for a total of 9 nights in April.
Friendly professional staff, and the restaurant under the hotel is excellent.

We stayed at this hotel for one night. It has a very good location right across from the train station. The rooms are small but comfortable. The AC was not working when we arrived and the room was very warm. But somebody came right away after we called and fix it, because the control were in Japanese so we couldn't fix it ourselves! Very funny. This a good hotel, not expensive at all and very convenient.

I stayed in a single room for 3 nights in April 2013. The room was small and the TV showed only domestic channels. The breakfast was comprehensive and the hotel is about 5 minutes walk from Osaka JR Station. Therefore, it is very convenience to make day-trip to Kyoto, Nara and Kobe, etc. as well as within Osaka city. Around Osaka Station, you can also find many restaurants and departmental stores.

Overall, I think the hotel is suitable for business and budget travellers, but not for family with children.
