We stumbled upon this sushi train on our second trip to Kyoto and at Y137 per dish, found it to be the best value sushi we'd tried. (In Sydney, the closest place charges AUD3 per dish, so this equated to AUD1.71 per dish).
At that price, you won't be getting fancy stuff which you might get at the Tsukiji fish market, but we were hungry and just wanted to eat. The signage is very good, and plates distinguish between sushi with wasabi, and sushi without.
There were a quite a few local Japanese who frequented this sushi train when we were there (twice on our trip), and during lunch/dinner, there was always a queue. For us when we travel, it is always reassuring to see plenty of locals choosing to eat at the same place!
