We loved this restaurant. The ramen was some of the most delicious we have had in Japan! The service was fast and the price was great!

I loved the ramen here and it was definitely worth the trouble to find this place and enjoy a bowl of the miso along with gyoza and a cold draft beer. While the gyoza was just average, the ramen was superb with a deep and rich broth. Truly a unique miso broth. Service was excellent - typical of most places in Japan. The interior of the restaurant is very attractive.

While I do agree with some of the previous posters about the oiliness of the ramen, it was delicious nonetheless and the price was reasonable.
It was certainly different to everything else I've tried -- given most Japanese restaurants to serve "normal" ramen, this was definitely worth trying.
It's also a very short walk away from the Nishiki market street so you can do some shopping and then eat afterwards.

Take a long walk. It really worth to pay a visit here. The ramen is so different. Remam Soup with black color but it is really tasty. Highly recommend !

As a mature Australian couple, we walked by this restaurant daily as it was near Watazen, our accommodation. Every night there was a stream of Japanese 30 something's coming and going and the flames from the wok looked dramatic. After reading the reviews we decided to try it. We chose to sit up at the front bench to watch the goings on but the back and upstairs rooms were usually full. The first visit we had the hot pot and gyoza which were beautiful. It was great to be able to share a carafe of reasonable red wine and the sake (especially the one that was Japan's most famous) was a hit on a cold night. Second time round we tried the burnt miso and burnt soy ramen. Fantastic flavours and a really hearty meal in a bowl. Young staff spoke very little English but we all managed, making this a very memorable place in our 2 weeks in Japan.
