I stayed at Hotel Gran Ms Kyoto for 3 nights. First and foremost, the location - it is strategically located next to attractions such as Pontocho, Nishiki Market and eateries. It is also within walking distance from a few subway stations. The room is small and the toilet is elevated which makes it difficult for elderly people to move in and out. On the other hand, the free wifi is superb with strong signal even in the toilet. The green tea provided is top notch. Customer service overall at the hotel is great and staff at the front desk speak decent English.

It's very well located, close to subway and imperial house, walking distance to Gion and near by so many restaurants and fun shops. The room is very small but clean and comfortable. The hotel is modern and well decorated. The service is good, the reception people are friendly and helpful, they speak English well. They don't serve breakfast but there is plenty of places where to have breakfast just near by. It was perfect for us.

We spent four nights here in August. Easily accessed via bus 205 from the main Kyoto station. Normal small rooms for Japan but lovely and modern with nice amenities in the bathroom. The front desk staff were very helpful and had a good level of English. Multiple subway stations around which made access easy to any part of the city. Self service laundry facilities are free you just have to bring your own detergent. There is a 7 eleven on the ground floor which sold small packets of three of this. Great bakery a few doors down where we had a cheap breakfast of hard boiled egg and toast each morning with a coffee for under 500 yen. The hotel does not have a restaurant so this worked out well. We loved Kyoto and the area we stayed in.

The location of this hotel is fabulous! There are many restaurants, shops, etc just out your door and because it is such a central area, you can catch a bus to anywhere just outside the door. Buy a daily bus pass at the hotel desk and use the buses in Kyoto. It will save you a lot of time and they are not difficult to figure out. We had a triple room, which looked as though it was a double room with an extra bed shoved in. It was very tight for 3 people. The bathroom was a single unit--looked like an airplane bathroom with a shower. However, everything was extremely clean and there was air conditioning. They also have a free laundry facility, though it serves the entire hotel, so often busy. I thought this hotel was rather expensive for such a tiny room and no other amenities, but I think Kyoto has high prices and you are paying for the excellent location at this hotel.

My room felt claustrophobic. It was not easy to move around when you open your suitcase. There was no view whatsoever. Bathroom was extremely small and if you are an elderly person it would of been very difficult to step into the bathroom as it had huge step that you need to cross to get into what seemed more like a cabin. On a good side position of the hotel was very convenient, wi-fi was good and staff was helpful.
