We took the bento course on a Sunday morning, I booked it as a surprise for my girlfriend. It was great fun and a good introduction to the basics of Japanese cuisine and the tradition of bento lunch boxes in Japan. The staff is super friendly, they speak very good english and you get to eat the nicely decorated lunch box you prepared in their lovely loft style cooking studio or you can take it away to eat in a parc. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Japan!

I've taken cooking classes all over the world and this was one of the best. Satsuki and Ichie were wonderful teachers. They took photos of us cooking (so I didn't have to do it) and emailed them to us afterwards along with the recipes. They were very organized and gave insightful tips that are hard to relate in a recipe. I will definitely make most of the dishes at home. My husband and I took the class with our 23-year-old son and even he enjoyed it.

Excellent hosts who speak better than conversational English (for those who don't speak Japanese).

The lesson is partially watching and partially cooking with some cultural tips and a bit of why-for infused throughout.

The food is 'oishī' (delicious) and fun to make - though probably a bit more complicated than most people are willing to do on a daily basis.

The place itself is a little tricky to find (follow their map), but inside is well air-conditioned (for those visiting in the summer) and a lovely modern, spacious decor - excellent for cooking in.

Satsuki and her team are very fun and accommodating with a great knowledge of Japanese cuisine. The 3 hour course flew by but was packed full of fundamental recipes. We'll definitely be trying out them at home!

They are also provided us with some great tips on what else to get up to in Kyoto.

All in all it was a great experience, lots of fun. If you are staying in Kyoto and always wandered how to cook some classic Japanese dishes, then this is the course for you!

We love Japanese food so a cooking class was on our to-do list for this visit to Kyoto. Based on past reviews we chose Kyoto Diadocoro and are so glad we did. Firstly we were guided through the Nishiki markets by our hosts Satsuki and Wakaba and were encouraged to taste many new items. Our cooking class held nearby was the Teppanyaki class and we made Yakisoba, Okonomyaki and Gyoza. This was so much fun and they gave us hints and ideas that we can use when trying this at home. We also enjoyed our Sake tasting with our dinner. We can highly recommend this course. Thanks for an enjoyable class.
