“Location Location Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

you cannot find a better location ! Just around the corner, you have the crossing of the 2 metro lines. There are also plenty of nice restaurants and bars around where you can have traditional dinners or even some good italian food. We believe this is one of the best locations you can find for a hotel in Kyoto.

The rooms are fine : modern and clean. Though some disadvantages : no wireless internet access, very small bathroom (I measure 1m95 and cannot stand up), all instructions in Japanese only (we did not manage to switch on the TV and also the AC can be a problem).

Check in and check out went very well : efficient and really the way it should be.

Despite the very central location, the rooms are very quiet and during the night, you do not hear anything. We were in room 620 and it was very quiet and nice.

The location is fantastic, 2 mins from the metro station, 3 metro stations from the main train station, 10 mins walk to the restaurant/shopping area. Breakfast is traditional and excellent. Service is also excellent.

The rooms are not very spacious for western standards, but still quite spacious for Japanese standards. They are clean and a yukata (sort of pajamas) is provided every day. The bathroom again is at a good Japanese standard with Japanese toilets, but may look cheap to westerners (all plastic). There is an onsen inside the hotel which is open fairly late.

I stayed in Mitsui Garden Sanjo for 5 nights. The hotel is really nice and clean, in a great location (close to the attractions and the public transport, but not in the middle of chaos). The part that I enjoyed the most, though I had a perfectly good bathroom attached to my room, is the common bathing area, with its hot bathtub overlooking a small, private, garden - just what I needed after long days spent visiting the town! The hotel staff is all very helpful and speaks good english. I prolonged my stay while I was there and obtained a better price than what I paid through booking.com, so I suggest you check the rate and book through the hotel directly. Despite the photos showing luggage being kept in the main hall, they actually store most of it in a locked deposit with identification tags.

Room Tip: Rooms of 2F are the closest to the common bath.

I loved this hotel! The location was perfect, 1-2 min walk to the nearest underground station karasumadori-oike. Come out of Exit 6, turn right, walk a few steps along til you see the starbucks and turn right into the road, and the hotel is just a few more steps ahead to your left. Turns out karasumadori-oike is the most convenient station as it is the cross-over stop for both underground lines in kyoto.

The reception has a view of a beautiful garden and breakfast in the restaurant also holds that view. Breakfast is an additional 1100yen and is totally worth it! It was one of the best breakfasts we ate in japan!

The free onsen is simply amazing, it's free to use, and has a wonderful view of the garden once again. Room sizes are good and clean too, and we felt so comfortable here. The staff and friendly and can speak a little english. Value for money too, I would definitely stay again, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

There were no non smoking rooms available despite having requested at booking. Room reeked of smoke odour and is small and in need of an upgrade. Does not look like the pics on the booking website. Takes about 15-20 minute to walk to Gion.

The location is absolutely perfect, walking distance from the subway and also walking distance from many attractions. The lobby is very nice and well designed; the internet is very fast, rooms are small but beautiful and the staff is amazing.

I also visited the small public bath they also have there and the experience was very very nice. Recomended!
