Booked triple room had three large single beds or three small double beds. Can host easily family with two or three kids. Spacious room but tiny bathoom: a good reason to enjoy the public Japanese bath in the hotel. I highly recommand the pleasant restaurant on the ground floor: fine delicious Japanese cuisine at reasonable price. Friendly staff. Lots of coffee shops and restaurants in the neighbourhood. Manga museum at 4 min walk.

We stayed here for four nights and had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is very conveniently located, just meters away from the Karasuma-Oike metro station. It's on Sanjo-Dori a really nice and relatively quiet shopping street which to the east leads to the Nishiki Market area and the main nightlife/restaurant area.

The hotel itself is nice and clean. The rooms are small, as they typically are in this country. There's also a small complementary Onsen (japanese bubble bath), separated by men and women (in Japan it's customary to use these without closing).

Pros:
• Location walking distance from the covered markets
• Starbucks across the street (If that’s your bag)
• Beer & Noodle Vending machines on every floor
• Helpful multi-lingual staff
• Huge Double Room with king size bed and two desks
• Quality grocery within 5 minutes walk

Cons:
• At the end of a trip salarymen often get back late after many celebratory drinks and a few hours of karaoke under their belt. LOL

ProTips:
• Best spot to always get a cab is at the Kyoto Monterrey just 2 min. around the corner)
• There’s a small community playground 7 min walk away (ask the concierge
• The separate Men and Women’s Saunas are basic but heavenly (and included!).

This is a true Japanese business hotel. When I think about who travels most in Japan it has to be the Japanese salarymen and the hotels that have come to focus on the needs of these tireless constantly traveling legions are little gems in Japan. This place is no frills but the lobby and restaurant are smartly decorated and due to good Trip Advisor rankings they said they’ve been seeing more International Tourists come in and that’s raised the already multi-lingual capabilities of the staff.

The hotel is within short walking distance to buses and subway/train station. Although the room is small, but they have it designed the way you can get most of your travel needs meet. The staff was friendly and helpful and I loved the public bath facility that's for hotel guest use only. You can definitely get your traditional Japanese bathing experience there all for free. There are a lot of different restaurants around with good prices so you would never go hungry. Traveling in Kyoto on a budget alone, this was the best choice.

I stayed in Mitsui Garden in December 2012 for the first time. Sanjo dori is one of those interesting Kyoto roads that embody the spirit of Japan so you can stroll it all the way until Terramachi. The hotel itself is a practical solution for a short stay in the old capital. Its not as expensive as some of its counterparts. The rooms are small indeed but one expects that in Japan. The bathrooms are of the typical industrial type that you find very popular in Japan. Small but functional. In winter Kyoto is very cold but there was always hot water and the room was warm. For the personnel what can one say. Other than the language difficulties they are always eager to help. There is a Japanese hot bath facility for the guests in a lower floor that in the winter can be quite comforting. Overall the hotel is clean and functional, ideal for a short stay in Kyoto.
