After a day of walking Kyoto's fabulous streets the Hyatt Regency is so welcoming. The staff are extremely friendly, the rooms are extremely comfortable, and the bath extremely cosy. You will never have trouble getting the taxi to the hotel, it is very well known, regardless, it is actually quite close to walk everywhere.

We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

Stayed at Hyatt Regency Kyoto for 4 nights. Quite convenient location if you like to visit the famous temples. The Sanjusangen-do Temple 三十三间堂is next to the hotel. The famous Kiyomizudera Temple 清水寺is 10minutes away by walking.

But if you prefer more central location, then look for one at or nearby Kyoto Station where there are many restaurants and activities. Hyatt Regency's neighborhood is very quiet and not much activities at night.

It's an old hotel and I think they must have refurbished not too long ago. Interior is modern and typical clean Japanese style

The standard room we stayed is not big and typical Japanese size room. But the layout is quite well thought especially the bathroom which is reasonably spacious with bath tub and shower. The only complaint is the flat pillow which is not firm enough.

The breakfast served at the cafe is average. They only serve western breakfast with decent choices. Japanese style breakfast is only served at the Japanese restaurant.

As with most Japanese hotels, service is always good and polite.

Room Tip: Some rooms have limited view and only have restricted view of the very small indoor garden. If y...

Modern Hotel right in the historical area of Higashiyama with the Sanjunsangendo Temple next to it and the Kyoto Museum opposite. Close to major historical sites and shopping areas. Only 10 minutes by taxi from Kyoto station.

Rooms are modern and well appointed and the daily breakfast was very good. Attended a function there and service was flawless.

Will definitely return.

The hyatt regency Kyoto.

Although this Hyatt hotel is only regency grade but in my opinion I rate the one as Park hyatt level. ( I agree to the Michelin red guidebook honoring this hotel in the highest rank.

@ Transportation :
- I arrived in the morning for keeping luggage by taxi (670 ¥) or bus No.100,206,travel bus (220 ¥ or use bus pass 1000. ¥) to Kyoto national museum bus stop when travel out bus stop is in front of hotel.
- Checking out was very quick and taxi in normal price back to Kyoto station that send me to the back door little step to Shinkansen ( time after finishing check out and seated on Shinkansen less than 10 minutes)

@ Room: The exceptional design of Superpotato makes room blend to nature in minimalism and has a lot of space between bed to TV counter and in the bathroom that in fact the room is only 28 m2 .

- After check- in , staff came with me to the 3rd floor king room ( may the best: quiet and good view ) room is tidy and cozy. I can open the windows to breeze cold air (other may smoke). Self blind totally blocks light and Superpotato style curtain keep privacy from pedestrians ( i want to by their lovely curtains to my home)

- I love so much about opened space in bathroom that include both wet area and soak bathtub is very spacious and feel spa sensation with lemongrass smell toiletries and well equipped razor, comb, tooth care etc.
In toilet section warm and automatic bidet Japanese style.

- Bed mattress is soft enough no back pain in the morning covered with thick linen bed sheet and very good 4 pillows.( may be goose feather or equal grade ( I did not scrutinize ) with turn down service ( but not have compliment gift or fruit plate therefore I buy giant straw berry instead of them for breakfast.

-Light control panels , small wooden clock , telephone is set aside. Plug fit in my iPhone adaptor available at TV.counter-desk that everything such as snackbar, safe box, plate glass everything are there.

@View : A lot of Bamboo tree lie outer zone and zen garden with momoji and Sakura , waterfall lie inner zone
make Japanese style view during living in room and having meal in restaurant . Therefore Landscape , design from super potato make this hotel is fascinating as boutique hotel.

@The restaurant: I had a late dinner at "the grill" ( last order 9.30 pm) It have zen garden view. I ordered the salmon salad with yoghurt like cream and I taste wood burn medium Kumamoto wague tender loin grill with sweet vegetable and red wine sauce is Devine . But if you want more late , "Touzan bar" at garden level ( popular Kyoto place to drink) and I have 3000 yen discount from reserve room via hyatt Internet.

@Technology - Free wifi in lobby and <600yen per night in ultra high speed wifi ( cheaper than Taxi, isn't it ), the vivid color of Panasonic TV and DVD player. You can borrow DVD from staff at Lobby.

@Health : "free" hi-tech exercise gym ( lift to 2nd floor and walk along sign direction( like maze)

@Service : the very attentive staffs spoke easily-listened English .

@Sightseeing : Hotel is among many temples with colorful leaves of momoji , sakura and ginko trees are and the Kyoto National museum situates opposite .Sightseeing bus (rakuku?)220 passes in front o f hotel.

@Price : Exactly not cheap but worth.

#Conclusion : I cheer to stay at this hotel for worth vacation.

During our trip in Nov 2012, we prefer the ANA Kyoto hotel to the Hyatt Regency, cheaper and more convenient (free shuttle to Kyoto train station). Room is very plain, cannot justify why it is almost 3 times the price of ANA hotel.

This is a lovely, low-rise hotel that does not have the signature Hyatt Atrium. It is tastefully designed, and very comfortable. Location is a bit off-center, though it's across the street from the National Museum (closed during 2013). It has excellent (though high-priced) Japanese restaurant. A restful place to stay in.
