“Perfect place to stay in Kyoto”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

The hotel is very well located, close to many sightseeings. The staff is great and helpful - they really helped us many times, including changing our train ticket to Tokyo. In general, food is very good (there is one Japanese, one Italian and a grill restaurant), including the breakfast. The only negative aspect is the lack of a swimming pool. It was really hot in Kyoto and it would be nice to relax by the pool after a long day.

After reading the reviews here I decided to book the Hyatt Regency Kyoto. The service was excellent, and the attention to detail was phenomenal. I felt welcomed as soon as I entered the lobby. I originally thought that I could only get wifi access in the lobby after reading reviews on Trip Advisor, but I was able to get wifi in my room, which was more comfortable and easier to get some work done. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is in a good location in terms of access to some of the key sights (although there are so many things to see in Kyoto that I can’t imagine where you might stay to be near them all!), and there is a bus stop outside and always a queue of taxis available. We arrived by train and decided to walk to the hotel, however it took about half and hour and it would have been easier to get a taxi. The area feels fairly quiet and residential, however although it is quite dark it never felt unsafe.
The hotel seemed as if it had been recently refurbished, and was modern with calming décor. The room was quite large for a Japanese hotel, and was decorated in a modern Japanese style. It was very comfortable and there was no noise from with outside or the rest of the hotel. The bathroom was very sleek and had a separate wet room with the shower and a frosted divide into the main room.
Free Wifi is available but only in the lobby. We didn’t eat in the hotel or have breakfast, but there are a couple of restaurants on site. we did have a drink in the bar which had quite an unusual style. There are also a few Japanese restaurants on the road from the hotel to the station, as well as western style fast food places.
In terms of sights Kyoto can feel seriously overwhelming, and given the temperature and humidity whilst we were there it was nice to have a cool, calm and comfortable place to retreat to at the end of the day.
The staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel.

The staff here is simply outstanding, friendly and extremely accommodating. From concierge to front desk, to dining staff, to housekeeping the service was always prompt and accompanied with a smile. Rooms are pleasant, and the separate and very large shower and bath space is like heaven. Hotel is located near several temples and a short cab ride to other key sights. I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: try to book a rate including the excellent buffet breakfast

The Hotel is Located Near Key Attractions of Sanjusangendo (walking Distance) and Yogenin Temples. And close to the JR Station as well (By Taxi or Bus) Still away from the Hustle of JR Station Area. Its Located on the Tourist Bus Circuit and you can easily take the bus in front of the Hotel and Get Down at the Main Destinations.
The Wifi in Lobby Area is Free, the Rooms are very Comfortable and the Interiors of the Hotel are great as well. Overall a Good Stay, we didnt try any of the Restaurants at the Hotel.
I would definitely recommend this Hotel to anyone who is traveling to Kyoto.

This was the best hotel we stayed at in hotel, including two Hiltons. The room was very clean and modern, and provided two free waters. On the hotel in one of the oldest gardens in Kyoto, so the room has a nice view. We did not have to pay for parking, but that is because the garage was full when we checked in, so they had us in overflow parking. There is a bus station right outside that takes you into Kyoto station, which is convenient. The hotel is also walking distance to Kiyomizu, which is the main event in Kyoto, and the geisha area. Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Get a garden view.

My husband and I stayed here while staying in Kyoto the first week of September. The hotel was very modern and updated. The hotel also had a bus stop right in front of it so it made it easier getting around by bus (the main public transportation). Also the hotel staff was very helpful and spoke great English. We loved our stay here. It would have only been made better if it was a little less expensive, but you get what you pay for!

Room Tip: Choose a room with a garden view on one of the higher levels.
