“Good hotel not far from Kyoto station”
Reviewed May 5, 2012

It takes 15 minutes to walk from Kyoto station to the hotel, the subway and the next bus stop are only 2 minutes away from the hotel.
The rooms in the hotel are of good size and clean. Very nice is the public bath which they have on the top floor.
The rooms are not new, but still in good shape. What I missed was a WiFi connection in the hotel, only Internet connection via LAN cable is possible.

If you want to travel in Kyoto the hotel is a good location and with the publich Kyoto busses you can see nearly everything in the town for a cheap transport costs.

Room Tip: Chose a room on the upper floors, but not on thr top floor. Chose a room which is on the back side...

We had booked a semi-double room and couldn't change the online booking to reflect two people who would be staying in the room When we arrived, we were told the room was for one person! The hotel then added a surcharge of $100 US for our two night stay, making the room $230 a night. The receptionist could not speak much English, and couldn't help us. Therefore, the hotel was way overpriced for what it was.....tiny room, AC not working, tired furnishings.

Room Tip: Make sure you have booked a room type that reflects your needs and are sure of the price before you...

The biggest plus was the location - it takes less than 5 minutes to walk to the subway station (I think it was Gojo station?) and one stop to Kyoto station. There are a few cafes around the area including McDonalds.

Room was a little crammed but had all the amenities there. No major complaints.

We have spent two nights in a double room.

The good
- Staff very friendly and helpful
- Room was large (compare ok with Australian hotels) and clean
- Bathroom was fine, and bigger than expected. Good water pressure
- Bed was comfy, a bit hard though
- TV en Japanese language only (so you go out)
- Free and fast Internet
- Location: very close to Gion, subway, and main train station

The bad
- Light smell of cigarette, despite booking a non smoking room. Hashtray is provided
- Location: no many restaurants around.
- No second pillow

Nothing exciting about the hotel, but it does the job.

Was in Kyoto for peak weekend of leaf change (red leaves) and was lucky to get this room. Having said that, hotel rooms small, dated, stained and stale, terrible mattress. This is mostly, i think, a hotel for Japanese businessmen. Nice location one subway stop from Kyoto station. Easy to get around. Wouldn't pick this place if rooms were easier to come by. Staff was pleasant.
