Owner description: Arashiyama is a small town on the Oi River. Its moon-crossing bridge, Togetsu-kyo, is a beautiful, much-beloved wooden structure. Arishiyama also has Tenryu-ji temple, one of the 14 World Heritage Sites in Kyoto.

Allow yourself enough time to enjoy this beautiful site, with several shrines, impressive monuments and a bamboo forest!

“Serenity”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

This very pleasant setting gives off the aura of serenity. The bamboo grove is visually appealing and lighting challenges the photographer. Near public transport and temples its a must see!

“Lovely garden”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

We mistakenly thought the famous bamboo grove was inside the nearby garden (with an entrance fee of 500yen) but it is actually outside of the pay area. The grove itself is lovely but is basically a 2 minute walk. If you have the time and the inclination, you can basically find similar groves in any of the woods around Kansai, but without the tourists.

“A beautiful place to be!”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

Arashiyama is a tourist district in Kyoto full of life and wonderful nature! You can have an interesting walk next to nice small stores and traditional restaurants. Also there is a large bridge over a wide river where you can have a stop and admire the view of the running water and the beautiful mountain! This place really combines shopping, food and relaxing in nature! When you visit Arashiyama do not lose the chance to visit Daikaku-ji temple, it is in a short distance by bus!
