I came across Kyo-Chabana when looking for a place to have dinner with my travel companion, and it seemed like a nice place. They had a menu in English, and we quickly discovered that they served meals that were of interest to us, meaning typical Japanese food. I had tried okonomiyaki before, a Japanese savoury pancake containing a variety of ingredients, but here they served us one made with a special avocado-sauce, which was absolutely delicious! We also had some risotto with tomato sauce and seafood, which was a treat. The resturant had soothing jazz music playing, and the staff were very friendly and service-minded (as the Japanese tend to be), but not overwhelming like I've experienced elsewhere. The atmosphere was, like the food, a complete delight. If you go to Kyoto, make sure to drop by this restaurant.
