We came here during our first night in Kyoto. Food was very good especially the Sashimi and the Tofu with Eggplant. Tempura bento box was very good.

On arrival you feel this is high quality restaurant and the food meets expectations at reasonable prices frequented by locals. The room we were put in had some interesting renovation - seemed 'unfinished' with the light spaces and some cobwebs showing and didn't quite fit the quality or immediate ambiance of the restaurant.

Would recommend to visitors for the quality of food, but you could get similar with the many options available in and around Kyoto station.

Sushi was good. I liked the hole under the table for my dis functional knee. I little more expensive than the average sushi but a nice private dining experience.

We took our three year old and five year old while staying at the Hotel Granvia and Kyoto station. They have great child meals for around 500 to 600 yen. We took down the tuna set at 1900 yen that came with tempura, miso and tofu. It is hard to beat the quality and value of this place. The staff was very friendly.

I went in Ganko after a business day and invited by colleagues, before to take our train back to Tokyo. I was expecting a quick and informal dinner.

Instead I was impressed about the very nice restaurant style, the service professionalism and the very high food quality.
Of course all excellent with Japanese Kyoto style.

If you have opportunity to be in Kyoto I recommend to have a meal in this restaurant before to leave the city; it is also at convenient distance from the JR station, approx. 10-20 mins. walking. I should be there at least 1.5 hours, better 2 to avoid rush, before leaving.
