Very close to the Nishiki Market, this is a delightful ramen chain. Delicious ramen hits the spot and energizes you for the delights in the Market.

Try some real Ramen Noodles at Ippudo! You will have to wait outside for a while, but it is all worth it. Some dishes are spicy. They ask you which level of spicyness you can handle on a scale of 5. Believe me : 3 is very brave for a Westerner :) - and I lived in thailand and Jamaica, so I can take it...

Service is good but there aren't much options for vegetarians or pescetarians...it's chicken and pork dominance...for someone not eating meat there are barely any options available...Also, to my opinion this chain is a bit overrated considering the fact that you can have excellent Ramen all over Japan (especially in Kyoto) I don't understand why this one is mentioned in guides and reviews!!! it is not the best you can get...in fact it's just average

We usually avoid the Ippudo in New York and go to Menkui Tei instead because from what everything I've read it's overpriced. But the flagship Ippudo in Kyoto is wonderful! Ramen done perfectly, accompanying gyoza bites excellent tasting, and best of all great prices. My vegetarian daughters even found a ramen for them.
