I went to Chi Chi on my last night in Kyoto and am so sad I only found it then. The bar and restaurant were run by amazing people. I came alone but it never felt like I was because everyone was so nice. Also the locals were incredibly nice and funny too.

The food and drink wasn't expensive and was delicious. They had a great range of drinks and food.

When I come back to Kyoto next year I will definitely visit, they were so friendly, you'll never want to leave and will always want to come back!

ありがとうございます!

Dining ChiChi was our favourite place, hands down, to finish each day in Kyoto. The bar is located in an ideal spot looking right over the canal and I imagine the views in cherry blossom season would be fantastic. The bar offers an formidable selection of cocktails and a number of beers on tap as well as champagnes and sparkling wines from afar.

We were visiting Japan on our honeymoon and the staff were so happy for us that they made us some delicious celebratory cocktails and canapes.

The staff speak good English (one of the owners Eriko even spent some time living in Australia) and are welcoming to locals and tourists alike. Dining Chichi is open until late but, whether we arrived earlier in the evening or late, it was never too crowded or too quiet. The menu offered a range of Japanese and Western food as well as a number of tasty bar snacks.

After just a few nights of frequenting Dining ChiChi and chatting to the ever-welcoming staff and owners, it felt like it was our local.

We ended up in Chi-chi' most nights during our stay in Kyoto. Whether we had been out shopping or sightseeing this bar fit the bill regardless of what mood we were in.
The location on the canal side is fantastic for ambiance and people watching whilst being away from the tackier end of the district. We were always treated with a smile and when the bar was not busy the friendly staff chatted with us and gave us great insight into life in Japan, culture and local knowledge. When the chef found out we were on our honeymoon he made us tasting plates of some fantastic local cuisine!
Great atmosphere. Great food. Great drinks (try the local cocktails). Friendly English speaking staff. Great music. Free Wifi. What more do you want?
