With just 10 seats you have a bird's eye view of your food being prepared with great precision by the young chef and his team. They speak a little Japanese and made us very welcome.

Our highlight had to be his signature dish of sesame tofu lightly baked with sesame cream and topped with toasted seeds ground to a coarse powder.

Price us now 7850 for the simplest set meal but we still had many dishes - just the right quantity for us.

We enjoyed out chat with chef (who us so charming and self-effacing) after our meal showing him where we live

It is a little hard to locate but is just off the main shopping street

Restaurant only seats 10 so you get very personal service whilst watching the chefs prepare food. We were the only foreigners, little English spoken but they wrote down translations for us, however the lack of English only added to traditional Japanese vibe. Food was 9 small courses of fresh seasonal ingredients, beautifully presented with delicate Japanese flavours. Amazing value at 7000 yen (plus service) for a Michelin starred restaurant.
We could hardly fault the meal nor service. Would highly recommend as a memorable Kyoto experience

As we planned our trip to Japan, we had set our food expectations high. The list of Michelin stars is never ending, we spent hours looking at websites and going around in circles. Finally, we decided to ask the hotel to recommend one place for our single night in Kyoto, and Jiki Miyazawa it was. We were traveling with children (11/13) and thought it would be difficult on them.

But as it turned out, Mr Miyazawa and his troop delivered an honest, pure, packed with flavor dinner dinner that even our children licked the plates. We got the base tasting menu for them, and the most elaborate one for the adults - both options are great. Every dish was perfectly executed just in front of us, and being a Kappo cuisine chef, Mr Miyazawa possesses a certain quiet, yet focused precision that must come from all those Kyoto temples, that made the cutting of fish look strangely magical.

No messy kitchen, no stressed out waiters, no chaos - it was smooth, peaceful and thus gave us the chance to just focus on each bite. At every step of the way, a white paper napkin with the english terms of the food being served was given to us, with a charming short reading from the staff. At the end, Mr Miyazawa whips a green tea that could win a michelin star on its own.

To close the evening Mr Miyazawa spent some time looking at a world atlas with us, as we strongly encouraged him to visit our home in Turkey.

Overall a great experience for those people who enjoy eating good food, and have seen lots of things out there. This is a bit "something else"...

We went to this very typical small place for our first dinner in Japan. We should probably be the first foreign clients, as this place has only 10 seats and is usually occupied by Japanese clients only. According to what we heard, it takes at least a few weeks to have the chance to book a table. Thanks to a Japanese colleague (who knew the chef), we had the chance to share a nice dinner with her and a friend of mine. The chef proposed a menu composed of 8-9 different dishes, all very typical (and unusual), and all delightful. The quality of each product was perfect and there was 5 people to take care of 10 clients. We don't know the price as we were invited by my colleague, but it seems to be quiet expensive. Definitely an amazing experience for the one who had the chance to go there. I advice everyone to have at least some basic knowledge in japanese, as there is no menu in english and the chef didn't speak english at all.
