we booked the hotel for 4 nights. our room was very small that that has been the standard of hotels in japan so it was fine. staff were very helpful. the hotel is very new and just 5min walk from kyoto station which was convenient. this is not a spacious or luxurious hotel but it is cheap, easy location, clean and practical for a short stay.

We visit during the sakura season in April. I was glad to have found this hotel due to it offered a 'non-smoking room with double bed' for 3 nights in a reasonable price from a japanese website.
I am not sure was that because we were travelling with a baby; we been given a room that was right next to the lift and vending machine.. and the private bath entrance was just opposite us! On the second night, I saw another young mother with a baby moved in next door.. Having said that, I think the sound proved was quite good or I might be too tiring to hear any noise coming from outside/next door. The two big vending machines sell coffee, green tea and beers. The public bath open from 6am, and yes, there will be people start going in from 6am! for ladies, you will need a daily code from the reception. there are also washing machines and dryer and shower facilities in the bath. You need to pay for the wash but its cheap. Dryer not so good, prepare about 2 hours for your laundry, don't rush it.
The bed can only be described as large single or small double for our average body size. No room for a cot. No room for more than one suitcase.
Plus side: like most of the Japanese hotel; staff was polite, MIKIMOTO body shampoo and lotion was offered, from toothpaste, disposable shaver, comb, hair band, etc..quite small but deep bath tub,
The Wifi was not working in the first day, a staff came in and 'rent' us a router and the problem solved.
Ask for a free map when you arrived. Don't expect concierge, you gotta take your own luggage.
I don't think its 5 mins walk to the station, more like a 15 mins. You can also easily stop a taxi outside the hotel or ask the counter to do it for you. Bear in mind that not all driver know every way in the city, even your show them the address in Japanese. However, they all have a sap nap to key in the address but this will take a while, and possible not stopping at your destination! which happened to us.. the taxi come in small, medium and large size and charge differently. So try to get in a 'small type' taxi, most driver are friendly and will help with your bags and shopping.

We stayed 2 nights at the Almont Hotel in March 2013, the hotel is very new and we got some very good rates (GBP 55 per night) for the Single/ Semi-double Room (15 sqrt meter). The room is very compact with not much free space, we only had one luggage so was fine. The bed sleeps 2 people fine. If you like your space then chose the larger rooms but if you want to save some money then this is great value, would suite a young couple travelling on a small budget. Both the hotel and the room is very new, the bath in the bathroom is very deep and quite nice.

Do try the hotel shared bath, very nice experience don't be shy no one will pay attention to you, most people there are Japanese and paying a visit to the public bath seems like a daily routine. However there is a helpful instruction in the changing room area, basically leave sleepers at the entrance, put all towel and clothing in a locker and bring nothing with you (except for a small hand towel) to the actual bath room.

There is also a convenience store not far across the main road opposite the hotel.

If you are going to the airport try the shuttle service located at the bus stops between the hotel and the train station (outside of department store Avanti).

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights and can't complain of anything. The minute you stepped into their lobby, the hotel feels so clean and spotless. We stayed in a deluxe room that has enough space for a mini bar; a closet to keep our luggage and hang our clothes; 2 semi-double beds and a small coffee table with 2 comfortable chairs facing the mountain view. The hotel also provided fresh yukatas every night. Their toiletries are always re-filled every day and has 2 sets of slippers; one for the bedroom and another pair that may be used within the hotel premises. A public bath is also available up to 2am. Access door code has to be requested though from the front desk.

There is a Lawson's right across the street. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the Kyoto station and a 10-minute walk from Aeon Mall (where there is a huge Uniqlo outlet). From Kyoto station, one has to take the Hachijo East Exit that leads to Almont Hotel. Once you take that exit, you will be facing Avanti Mall and Keihan Hotel...with Avanti in fron tof you and Kyoto station behind you, walk towards the left, and you will see Hotel Centnovum Kyoto... turn right the street right after Centnovum...walk about 100 meters... turn left and it is just less than 1-minute walk to Almont. This is a very quiet neighborhood which gives it a more home-feel after a full day of tour/shopping.

There is a great sushi bar in the Hachijo East exit. It's name is in Japanese, but the landmark is that it's right beside an italian resto called "Pastamore"... this sushi bar is so good, charges only JPY178/plate and is open until 10pm.

We took the bus going back to Kansai airport and used the airport limousine bus whose terminal was in front of Keihan Hotel (beside Avanti mall)which is a 3-minute walk from Almont Hotel. It was very convenient, considering that we do not have to drag our huge luggage inside the equally huge Kyoto station. We paid JPY2500/person for the one-way ride from Kyoto-Kansai airport.

I stayed in this hotel earlier in May 2013 and can highly recommend it. It is a really nice hotel with friendly staff and conviniently located 5 minutes from the main station. It is not a particularly nice looking building from the outside. However, once inside it has everything you need. A welcoming reception area, lovely modern rooms with WiFi and a great Onsen type spa, which was really relaxing after a long day sightseeing. I liked the layout of the rooms and they even had a kind of multipurpose charger for any type of phone which I really liked. Staff were very nice and helpful. All in all I really enjoyed my stay there.

Room Tip: Make sure you select the right station exit to get to the hotel easily.

It was really easy to get to from JR Kyoto station. Only a 10 minute walk.
When you enter the lobby, it is a very contemporary and new hotel. It's clean and inviting. There are lovely Ikebana arrangements dotted around the lobby and lounge area.
The staff were courteous and did their best to speak English...which is great 'cos if we can't speak Japanese then why should we expect them to speak English well?

The rooms were well appointed, I had a double bed and the space was just right. The bathroom was clean and hygienic. Every day after it had been cleaned, there was a lovely origami crane placed on the desk. Internet wi-fi was free and there were computers and printer in designated area down in the lobby.

The public baths were very clean, hygienic, and a pleasure to use. There were some POLA personal hygiene products to use before and after bathing.

I liked where it was situated as it was a quiet neighbourhood.

Excellent value for money, compared to the other hotel I stayed at in Tokyo.
