When I visited (a year ago) for lunch, this place was empty and I almost left. Good thing I stayed, because it was the best sushi meal I personally had in three weeks in Japan. First off, you get to order from their colorful iPad menu - and they do have an English version! If you pick a lunch special like I did, you can get not only a decent variety of sushi, but delicious appetizers (chawanmushi), soup, salad and dessert for the equivalent of $15 USD. A la carte prices are also reasonable. To top it off, the chefs treated me like gold and even gave me a gift for being one of their two customers at the time. It may not be considered the *very* highest quality, and who would expect the best sushi to be in landlocked Kyoto - but still, I dream of going back to this place when I'm in Japan again.
