“Loved it!”

Beautifully situated in a luscious mountainous area that offers magical views of Kyoto. The shrine itself, all wood has a majestic feel. If you are an adventurer make sure to check out some of the mountain paths behind the shrine which allows one to truly appreciate the wonderful nature surrounding Kyoto.

“Gorgeous sunset”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

We visited at the end of the afternoon so we were at the perfect place for the gorgeous sunset! A great moment for us. Kiyomizu has a special ambiance and we loved it. Temple is closed at 6pm and at 6:10pm they set the lights on, so just wait 10 min and enjoy the view!

“If you have time in Kyoto, visit it”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

Not to be kept on priority list but still it falls like in the top 5 places of attraction in Kyoto.
I had planned it evening and by the time I was there, i.e. around 5:15pm , it already started getting dark so could see much.
Huge campus and you should roam all around the place to see the over all beauty of the place.
You get to see whole of Kyoto from this temple and if you want to see the night city, go to this place in evening.
Temple closes the entrance at 6pm.

“Large, popular temple complex”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

A large complex with plenty to see & great views back to the Kyoto Tower. Very crowded even in the early morning when we visited.
