“What an incredible experience”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Having only stayed in hotels and apartments this was indeed an amazing experience. The Inn was spotless and clean and the hosts could not do enough to make us feel welcome.

The rooms were all detailed with authentic artwork with some having small courtyard gardens to the side.

If you find yourself in Kyoto and would like an incredible japanese experience please try this Inn, you will be pleasantly surprised!

Room Tip: Try an 8 matt room with small courtyard, it will add to your experience!

the hosts could not have been more friendly and helpful. we liked the way they intoduced you to the appropriate customs when staying in a ryokan and ensured that every query was addressed.
the room was smallish but adequate and very clean as was the bathroom.
The position was great, being near the station and bus stops. The staff sell all day passes for the bus which is very convenient. we would definately stay here again .

Hosts are friendly and very helpful.
They made their best effort to provide me with an enjoyable stay. I was introduced to the room and explained clearly what were the rules of stay. The hotel has a home-like atmosphere, clean, and tidy. I stayed in both Japanese-style and Western-style rooms. My preference is the Japanese-style. It was snowing in Kyoto when I was there, but the futon and doona were very warm and comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located about 10-minute walk from Kyoto station, where all the shops and food courts are, and within a walking distance to two most famous temples: Higashi Honganji and Nishi Honganji.

One small suggestion is to re-place the butt tray outside in front of the Western-style non-smoking room I was assigned to on level 5.

I will definitely go back there next visit.

Room:
Small but bery elegant Japanese Ryokan room.

Location: 10 mins walk from Kyoto train station, 20 mins walk from Kiyomizu Temple, and 5 mins walk from bus station that goes directly to Golden Pavillion.

This cozy hotel is very convenient as it is a short distance walk from Kyoto Station. We stayed for about 4 days in their traditional Japanese rooms. The rooms are clean and well kept, during this time of winter they also have heaters so even though you sleep in a futon you won't be cold. Sleeping quality is good if you don't mind much sleeping on futons.
Breakfast was nice and you have the option of having the traditional Japanese one or western style. Nice to have this choice!!!!
They also have wi-fi and it's free.
Definitely a place to stay when visiting Tokyo!
Thanks for you great hospitality.

We rocked up on January 4th, 2013.

We had no booking but read that Lonely Planet recommends it. We wanted a traditional Japanese room, however, there were none available.

They did have western style available, and even though we were there at 10am, a few hours before check-in. They let us into the room, showed us around and let us refresh before we hit Kyoto to sightsee. They were so helpful and accommodating by letting us into the room before check-in (still needed to be cleaned) and it was a fantastic stay altogether.

We did get to look at the traditional room and they are nice (and affordable) next time maybe!

Budi (guy at reception) is awesome and friendly. He made our stay feel like home and he bent over backwards to help us with any request - he is full of energy and definitely made our stay more enjoyable.

Overall: we would stay there again for the staff and a quality Ryokan.

We stayed here for only 1 night in Dec 2012. We had a garden view room on the 1st floor. We really enjoyed our experience here. Staff made us feel very welcome and it was interesting to stay in a ryokan. We had breakfast there as well the food selection was standard we had the eggs and toast but it was yummy. I would highly suggest staying here.
