Hotel Hokke Club Kyoto

the room is slightly bigger than most Japanese business hotels. Reception staffs are polite and can speak fairly good English. Location is good particularly if one wants to travel by train to nearby cities such as Nara, Uji, etc. A lot of restaurants in the neighborhood and the Family Mart convenience store is one block from the hotel. Ogawa Cafe on the ground floor offers reasonably priced breakfast. This hotel definitely is on the return list

Hotel is located just opposite the busy Kyoto Station, and it's the subway entrance is right at the hotel. The limo bus to Kansai airport is just diagonally across on the 1st floor of Avantis Building. You can purchase your tickets and board the bus there.

Hotel lobby is located on the second floor and the reception staff are very helpful and courteous. The rooms allocated to us were spacious by Japanese hotel standards. These are corner rooms and the amenities are adequate with fast and free wifi. Beds are comfortable and room heating works well and room is well insulated from traffic noise.

Food Tip: Don't miss the Ramen Alley on the 10 floor of the Kyoto Station. You can sample ramen from all over Japan here. And for a great morning walk, it's 20 minutes to Sanjusangendo Temple.

Travel tip: we travelled from Tokyo to Kyoto via Japanican's rail and hotel package and it offers great value. Tickets are 15,400 yen per person for both rail and hotel stay - one way from Tokyo and one night stay at Hokke Club.

Room Tip: Ask for corner rooms. They are pretty spacious with extra sitting area.

Hotel prices (budget hotels) in Japan are quite steep in most places. This hotel was a relief.
Room sizes in most Japanese hotels can make you feel claustrophobic. Not so in this hotel.
Many Japanese hotels have drab decors and 'ok' staff. This place was a welcome surprise.

Its located right infront of the Kyoto train station. Its got nice and bright rooms. And while Tokyo hotels were easily $125-$140 per night, we got this one for $90. The staff were really helpful. They have a wide range of brochures for things to do in Kyoto and helped us park a couple of cycles in their garage for a night.

I've recommended this place to my friends and they've come back saying the same thing as us - this was the best hotel on their trip to Japan.

The hotel is located right in front of Kyoto train, bus and subway station, which is ideal for a visitor. The room was very clean and comfortable, and I did not hear any sound from the outside even though the hotel is on a very busy street. Very friendly, English speaking staff. Small room but very comfortable. If you only need to get to your room at night for sleeping, this is the place.

Picked this hotel due to location - it's right next to Kyoto station.

The rooms here are rather small and since we booked on a very busy weekend in a 99% booked hotel, I cannot complain about a room lacking any window (we are not there to gaze out a window anyway). What's important is you get the rest you need.

great position, meters from central station (form where you can get all transportation in the city), good staff and nice rooms. Very easy to find (not so common in Japan!!). Clean and in a perfect safe area!

Fairly small room with just about enough floorspace to put two suitcases but it was cleanand cosy. The confirmation said no window but there was a frosted window facing an alley. Nice and clean, helpful staff and right opposite the train station. A good price too. I would stay again if I revisited the area.
