Room is specious and bathroom is a good size. Location is the key best when you travel via train or Shinkansen. Everything is all around this hotel, shopping, supermarket, restaurant and all means of transportation to reach every where in Kyoto.

Lobby is nice and big. Definitely coming back here again.

One of the better business hotel that we have stayed in Japan that are close to the train station. The price is decent, the room are of good size particularly if you opt for the twin room instead of the double room. The main drawback of this hotel is that the check-out time is at 10AM, could have been a lot better if it was 11AM. This is the only business hotel close to the train station that actually provide slippers, the white kind that you usually get in international hotels instead of just the usual Japanese re-usable ones.

Room Tip: A twin room is much bigger than a double but also has higher price, but can be god up to 4 persons.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. The location is perfect, right by JR, subway and bus station. The room and hotel premises are very clean, and the staff is friendly. There was coin laundry and vending machines with drinks on our floor. The room had very nice shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and face/hand soap available. They also gave presents for women: face cleansers and moisturizing masks, and other stuff, which was small, but nice gesture. However, the double room, is very small, I felt a bit claustrophobic in it, with no any kind of storage for clothes, etc, so we lived out of suitcases, which we kept closed, no place to even open both of them at the same time. The double bed is smaller than a full size bed, so it would be ok for one person, but not for two (even skinny or average size people). So, if you are used to bigger rooms and beds, then I guess you should try western hotels in japan. We stayed in two other hotels during this visit-hilton in tokyo, and one had as advertised size room/bed, but the other one had smaller size beds than advertised. So, no guarantee even in hilton.

I can't believe it's a year since I stayed at the Hotel Hokke Club, Kyoto. I was staying and travelling alone and I wanted somewhere reasonably priced, central, comfortable, safe, close to restaurants and public transport. Hokke Club ticked all those boxes. It's right across from Kyoto station, so you can catch transport of all kinds to anywhere you want to go in Kyoto and Japan. There are fabulous eateries and shopping at the station and it's not far to walk at night alone. My room was comfortable with a neat little bathroom and plenty of room to spread out, even a sitting area - quite unexpected for a budget-ish japanese hotel. It didn't have the atmosphere of the ryokan we stayed in the year before, but I would definitely stay again, just for the ease of arriving at the station and walking across the road with my luggage to check in. It's also really close to the retro Kyoto Tower with its fantastic department stores including fabric and arts and crafts.
I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would go back anytime!

Room Tip: There are some cheaper rooms without windows - I wouldn't choose one of these.

We were visiting Kyoto for a one day and a half, and wanted to be as close to Kyoto station as possible, and this is what we chose for under $100 a night. We walked away farely happy. The hotel is one short block from Kyoto station, and right across the street from Kyoto Station's bus stop. It was your average hotel, definitely smaller than our hotel in Tokyo, and not as modern, but we weren't expecting much for a one night stay.

The location was great (after you figure out what exit to go through), and could not have been more convenient after our train was 3 hours late getting in (there was a tornado that blew through Japan that day). We just wanted to drop off our back packs, and eat. Walking around, we were near a number of places to eat, and if none of those worked out, Kyoto station was right across the street!

The rooms, as stated above were a little smaller than the one we stayed at in Tokyo. The room was cleaned, but dated. Definitely had an "old school" charm to it (our room key was an actual key!) but again, we weren't expecting much. If you're looking for somewhere clean and cheap to stay at in Kyoto, I'd recommend this place (we paid $80 for a night...which in NY is motel standards, and it was MUCH better than some drab motel). I wouldn't have stayed here for more than 2 nights, for that I'd need more room! :-)

Really enjoyed this hotel. Rooms are slightly bigger than those in Tokyo. Excellent location just opposite Kyoto Central Station. It was a bit hard to find at first since the sign is so small but it is located just next to the Kyoto Tower Hotel. Relatively cheap, rooms are clean, reception staff speak good english and perfect location for staying a few days in Kyoto.

we stayed there 4 night. At the reception the staff was quite serious. We were used to more smiling people. The english was average. The rooms were very very small and without a window. Not much space to stow our stuff. The air conditioning was ok. The good side is that it is just in front of the JR station so easy to take the shinkansen in the morning. In front also of the bus station. The station itself is a piece of art
