“Imperial Palace”

The night time display of the Cherry Trees and the markets inside the palace grounds were lovely, also the performance by the giesha was an interesting piece of culture.

“Not much to see besides the beautiful garden”
Reviewed May 5, 2013 via mobile

It is impossible to see the palace on an individual schedule, you must be part of the group to visit. We booked our tour through the hotel where we stayed and I am not sure it was worth it.

The palace is not in use for dozens of years and the emperor doesn't even stay there when visiting Kyoto. So not sure why all the security and strict visiting rules.

The garden is indeed beautiful and must be even more so during the Sakura blossom. Other than that there's little to see and the tour is very short - only about an hour - to fully appreciate the beauty.

Bottom line - if you have plenty of time on Kyoto, try and get on a group tour, otherwise there are better tourist options.

“OF GARDENS AND HISTORY”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

The Kyoto Imperial Palace is a sight to behold.

Surprisingly few non-Asian tourists are to be found in this amazing sanctuary of peace, beauty, history and sublime gardens. The visit offers various sights and allows one to experience the advanced civilization of Japan back in the days of the Shoguns.

Many Sakura/Cherry Blossom trees are in full bloom in early April. A unique sight to behold and quite certainly, beautiful weather to enjoy.

First Spring brings new life, every year, finding many, many pleasures!

“Nice Scenery especially on sakura days.”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

We went there with a colleague who speaks the local language. It a place recommended for people who wants a break from city life. Its an old city with nice temples and view of historic places, rich in Japanese culture and its history.

Tips:
-Better wear a comfortable pair of shoes for endless strolling.
-2 way train transport is available at the airport's Mrt station (Kansai International Airport)
-Get a map once you arrived at the final station.
-Buy some drinks as you pass by Lawson, you'll be needing it to quench your thirst.
-Its easy if you have someone with you who speaks Japanese.

“Wonderful tour.”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

This is a must if you go to Kyoto. You must make reservations through the office on-site. There is not an admission fee, there are just limits to the number of people that can go through the 2-3 tours that they give each day. You must have your passport.

This is a wonderful hour and a half long tour. Don't miss it.
