Rooms are nice, slightly nondescript, but even the standard twin/double is quite large. I stayed in the winter and the room was equipped with an air purifier / humidifier which made the room very pleasant. The train tracks are behind the hotel but sound proofing is impressive. On the eighth floor it is barely audible. Service is excellent, staff are always available who can communicate well in English. Easy walking distance from Kyoto station. Because of service and convenience, I found the Rihga to be above average. A bit overpriced if booked off Agoda, maybe better value possible if booked through a tour service, ideally to include breakfast.

There's nothing to talk about the room as it's worth with the money we paid. What made my stay pleasent was the free scheduled shuttle bus between the hotel & the Kyoto station. It's the only point which made me return to stay at this hotel!

Very near to the kyoto central station and with the free shuttle bus provided by the hotel every 15mins it is easy to go around. Very near to aeon jusco, yodabashi where u can get almost everything. Helpful staff good place to stay for business and leisure

Stayed for 4 nights in November having been booked in by Dragonfly Tours. An excellent hotel offering friendly service and very clean rooms. We treated ourselves to the brilliant revolving restaurant on the 14th floor and enjoyed our most memorable meal/experience whilst in Japan. We would rate the quality of the food and its location as one of the best in the world.
It is still surprising though to see smoking is still permitted in the cellar bar, but we didn't stay that long as combined with the drinks prices which were prohibitively expensive, we chose to go elsewhere.
Still a top hotel though.

The hotel is close to railway station but still quite far from it. There are a dozen hotels closer with lower price. Rooms are from the 80's and do have walls made of ricepaper to help you hear everything around you.
Western style room does not offer complementary coffee as every other hotel in japan does. They dont even offer sugar to your tea.
We arrived to the hotel 15 min before the official check-in time (2pm) and were not given a room. It took us some time to go trough our stuff and leave for the city and during that time they could not prepare our room
Bottom line: you can get alot better hotels in kyoto for less money and most likely better facilities and service
