“Good location- not luxurious but had its perks.”
Reviewed November 2, 2013

Pros- great location, nice lobby, deep bath, pleasurable bar, good service.
Cons- our room window was opaque, small room (a little smaller than others we stayed in in Japan), hard bed.

Overall recommended and good value for money.

Room Tip: Avoid the court yard view rooms as the windows are opaque.

Dear Miss_ALB,

Thank you for your comments concerning your stay at our hotel. We are thankful that you appreciated our accommodations and found value for money.

If you should decide to return to Kyoto may we suggest that you explore Teramachi dori with it’s great shops and restaurants and it will lead you directly to the Imperial Palace which is only a short walk away. You may also want to try our Kotoran spa and enjoy one of it’s relaxing treatments.

Again we thank you for taking the time to share your comments and we hope to get to serve you again in the near future.

Our stay in this hotel was just great. The room was spotless clean had a decent size, bed is really comfortable and also has a good size. Night gowns were provided. A kettle and tea are available in the room, as well as a mini refrigerator. Good quality cosmetics in the bathroom, as well as complimentary toothbrush and a mini brush provided. We visited Kyoto in August, when the temperature was really high, yet the AC in the room was more than efficient. The temperature in the room was just perfect. The hotel is situated in a great position, close to a lot of bars and restaurants and also a bus stop and metro station are nearby.
Last , but not least, the ratio price quality ratio was just perfect.

We had a very pleasant two night stay at this hotel. To our surprise it was very conveniently located with access to multiple modes of public transportation. It is 12-15 mins cab ride from Kyoto Shinkansen station. Close to multiple convenient stores, nightlife, many restaurants, and river front. Breakfast was not included in our rate, and if one plans to have one in the morning they have to book it in advance the night before. This is normal in Japan, and we came across this policy in almost all the hotels. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others. Ask for the rooms on the outer ring of the hotel structure, as this opens to the outside view. The front desk sells day passes for bus, so make use of this convenience. They also have bike rentals at the hotel. Have a safe trip.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with outside view. Close to the running track along the river for runners.

Dear Sanjay_HK,

Thank you for your generous comments about your stay at our hotel.
We’re happy to hear that you enjoyed our location and your accommodations. We are indeed located in a very exciting area with easy access to all means of transportation, great shopping and exciting places like Nishiki market.

This is a wonderful time of the year to visit Kyoto, beautiful warm sunny days not as hot as the summer time. Perhaps when you return to Kyoto you can try our classic Lounge Haven and relax in our leather sofas while you sip one of our famous cocktails. Or you may just choose to chill out and relax at our Kotoran Spa.

We thank you again for your comments and look forward to greeting you again in the near future.

I stayed in this hotel 2 years back and it was because of the great location. Really central. But the beds were kind of hard and dated. We were told that there would be some upgrading to the rooms. I was wondering if the rooms have been remodelled since then as we will be visiting Kyoto again in Dec and am thinking of staying in this hotel if things have improved.

Nothing special but everything you would expect from a city hotel. Great location in the very heart of Kyoto. Clean and quiet. Professional staff. I would recommend and chose this hotel again. Price is ok for what you get.

Fantastic hotel! The staff were incredible, the location gives you easy access to some of Kyoto's best areas, and while the bed is firm, it is quite large and comfortable. They had decent pillows, a great comforter, and was large enough for two people to spread out in. We had a phenomenal experience at this hotel. I typically enjoy trying out different hotels, but if we were going to go to Kyoto again, we would choose to stay here.
