My family stayed here over Christmas - truly a 5 star hotel in terms of service, helpfulness, cleanliness and amenities! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they had many fluent English speakers available. It's not right near a station unlike other top hotels but the hotel runs a shuttle bus on the half hour and we found taxis very cheap by Australian standards - about $20 from Kyoto station.
