New hotel right in the heart of downtown Kyoto next to Nishiki Market, the covered shopping streets, the river, Pontocho & many restaurants. There is a bakery-restaurant right next door, as well as a grocery store. Less than 5 minute walk from Train station and 2 subway stations. This allows you to easily visit other areas like Nara and Osaka. Astounding lobby. Rooms are sound-proof & very clean. Free wi-fi in your room, not just in lobby. If you intend to walk around town, this is really a central location.

This hotel that is in a perfect location though it is about a 3 minute walk from the nearest subway. The area around it is lively with many great restaurants nearby. There is a large food supermarket with a bottle shop next door too. The night life is wonderful in this area but it is not very noisy either which is a big bonus. As for the hotel itself it has good facilities and clean rooms. The staff are helpful with a moderate understanding of English. They are always willing to help you find your way. The only problem was the room was a little small, but over all this is a hotel I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Kyoto.

This hotel is a 12/10. The rooms are beautifully decorated and not too small. The staff are amazing. I will come to Kyoto again and will I stay at this hotel. Yes yes yes BUT for twice as long. Do not think twice about booking this amazing hotel just do it and take the luxury it has and for a reasonable price

Room Tip: Took my two older daughters an they loved it too. Will bring the grandchildren back one day

The location of Royal Park Hotel the Kyoto is fantastic, you really can't go wrong. It is close to a metro station and easy walking distance to great restaurants and lots of sights.
The hotel itself is very nice, it has a peaceful feels as you walk in and the staff are friendly.
The room we had was large, with a queen size bed and plenty of room to move around. The bathroom was very nice, with toiletries supplied.
My only complaint is the room stunk of smoke! It was clearly a smoking room with the ashtrays removed. I note on the booking site I used, they do not actually offer non-smoking rooms, but standard or smoking. Admittedly I did not complain about this, but as we were checking in, someone else was asking to move rooms and were told the hotel was full, so I guessed if I had of complained, I would have not got very far.
The smell of the room is really the only thing that marks this hotel down for me, but given it made my allergies play up, I feel it really had a large effect on my enjoyment of Kyoto. I did not have this problem in any other hotels in Japan, so I think they should really look into making sure some rooms are kept smoke free, because this ruins what is a lovely hotel!

Room Tip: Specify non smoking if you don't smoke, not sure it will help, but it's worth a try!

Could easily have been a 5* review if the bathroom was just a bit cleaner (some of the tile grouting was discoloured). Great location, friendly staff, great snacks and breakfast items at a French patisserie right next door and a generally comfortable room with some quirky features. The bathroom design was odd but I got used to it. And of course there was the ubiquitous Japanese toilette (WC, bidet, hair dryer all in one)!
TripAdvisor really should go for 1/2 stars.

I visit Kyoto three times a year and have stayed in several of the city's hotels. The Royal Park is
new and overall a very good choice. There are a few minor negatives: the rooms are small (I had
a Deluxe Twin and was travelling alone but it felt cramped), the beds are too hard and the buffet breakfast (unless it is included in your room rate) is not worth it especially when you have one of the best bakeries (Shinshindo, who have a breakfast service in the cafe) in Kyoto on the ground floor of the hotel. The staff are very courteous and helpful as is to be expected in Japan.
If you like boutique hotels, want very good value for money and like to be in a central location, this hotel is the perfect choice.
