“Nice to relax for a day or 2 after a busy trip”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

Stayed for the weekend during 2 week business trip to Japan. Nice atmosphere to relax your body and soul. Loved the variety of Onsen and the food was good enough. Good for couples but singles welcomed too. Just in front of the station so the access is excellent for busy travelers.

Onsen is facing right in front of Hankyu Arashiyama Station with the famous Togetsukyo within 5-10 minutes walking distance. Spacious & tranquil ambiance. We were staying at the top grade rooms. Very spacious, think around 800 square feet as well external private onsen bath with superb view facing Arashiyama. There are 2 open-air communal public baths (separate for men & ladies) + 5 special themes bath for couple to book and try.

Stay includes both dinner and breakfast. Dinner is Kaiseki style including "all-you-can-eat" freshly fried tempura (not oily, thin skin & very crispy) and pickles. Not to mention the standard sashimi, grilled fish, gohan (rice) and miso soup and desserts. No worry that you will be bored if staying longer, as the main courses are changed each night. As for the breakfast, I'd rather term it as "brunch" - it is huge, and you can choose either japanese style / western.

Stayed at this hotel during sakura season. Ryokan is very new and easy to find. However room is very small. Onsen is nice however both me and my husband got back pain after soaking in the onsen. Food is decent but nothing that wow'd us. Overall it's a nice onsen ryokan if you are in the area and want to experience onsen. Otherwise I wouldn't make the extra trip to go there
