The hostel is close to Kyoto station and Yodobashi, very convenient . The room is clean, bed is large . Washing area , restroom are clean. Front desk Mio-san is helpful. Will choose to stay here again next time. Only the common washing area a little hot.

I was on Hana hostel this april 2012 for sakura sight seeing. it is located comfortably at the heart of Kyoto. with convinience store like Lawson. The room, bathrooma nd everything was very clean and warm. the common room and kitchen also very friendly and homelike with lots of facility like magazines, internet, TV, and drawing book. That one day, I comeback late around 11pm and have to wake up early to catch up morning train schedule.Usualy with such mess up sleep schdule i'll wake up late, but futon bed in hana hostel was very comfortable that i am able to wake up in the morning, contented and energized. The booking also surprisingly easy, without any Downpayment (as most of hostel are) we get our stay there confirmed.

Room Tip: 4 bed female room are the best in term of value, comfort and location coz it located on the first fl...

Was there on March 2012. Location good, walking distance to train, nearby has Lawson (24hrs mart). However since it's hostel, no lift-we stayed at first floor and it's bit challenging to carry those big heavy bulky luggages up.. Other than that, everything is good.

Bathroom clean, tatami style. You hv to self made the bed and fold yr bed before/after to get some space in the room. It's fun!

Receptionist is friendly. You can ask them quest abt any nice place to eat or where's good location to view Sakura nearby..There was a common party for you to cook, store food in fridge, hang ard and chit chat..

Overall, this place is good for budget and cozy feel.

We stayed at Hana for two nights during the Gion Matsuri. Booked directly with the hostel around 3 months prior and got excellent rates. Typically hotels and hostels tend to raise prices during festival/ busy seasons but not here. Hana is very fair and the staffs are very professional. We stayed in a private double ensuite room on the 2nd floor. It was quite large, well decorated and spotless clean - highly recommended! You are required to remove your shoes and put on slippers before entering the hostel so the floors are extremely clean. However,it was a little inconvenient to have to remove shoes every time we enter/leave the hostels - not a big deal though. Wifi connection is available in rooms. Futons were a little thin but surprisingly comfortable.

The staffs are very friendly and they provide excellent guidance on where to go/what to do. The Kyoto bus pass is available at the front desk for 500 yen - highly recommended as the bus system is Kyoto is amazing and probably the most convenient way to navigate the city. The hostel is very close to Kyoto Station and several bus stops. Lawson, Sukiya and Nakau (Udon/Gyudon)
are within 4 mins walking.

The first time going to japan and the hotel experience was amazing, the feeling this hostal gives is just like home, it's so comfortable and quiet.

The closeness to Kyoto sta. (train and bus), is the best attibute you could ever find. The staff is english fluent and they organice several events for the guests (we missed the oportunity to join them in the events cuz we had a really tight schedule). And the prices are amazing too, the best option to stay in Kyoto.

My husband and I stayed here in July 2011 as we traveled around Japan. We stayed here for five nights as Kyoto is a really convenient base to sight see in lots of different places nearby, and it was so comfortable it felt like home. We thought the price was exceptionally good for everything we got. This is a relatively new hostel so the decor and facilities were really modern and clean. The rooms are comfortable (though not generous) in size and had everything we need. The facilities were quite extensive, anything that we could think of that we might want (washing machine, bikes, vending machines, kitchen facilities, great wifi... you name it) was available, and because we stayed for so long we got to rent bikes for free one day which was a nice bonus. The thing which really impressed us though was the service. The staff, all of whom spoke English very well, and were very willing to suggest places to see and restaurants to go to - we found a great raamen shop on one staff member's recommendation which was the type of place only a local would know about. This place had everything I want in a hostel and for a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend.
