Really enjoyed our time at Kyoto Citadines. Should point out that this was my third time in japan, i'm a very seasoned business traveler over the years and that on this particular trip that we visited a number of hotels throughout japan over the course of three weeks.
With that backdrop, thought that the hotel was well located, literally seconds from a metro stop but you could walk to either the main station or the main shopping area in 20 mins, temples and other sights relatively easy access as well. The hotel is brand new and the cleanliness of the common areas could not be faulted. The staff were knowledgeable and polite.
As for the room, it has a small kitchen area next to the front door with a small sink, fridge, microwave and hot plate, so you can do some cooking if you so wish (as this is an "apartment hotel" it is not a place that offers room service, there is breakfast for additional cost if you so wish, but we prefer to visit the supermarket or convenience stores that were withing a couple of minutes walk and prepare our own food). The bedroom area is separated from the living area by a screen which can extend 3/4 of the way across the width of the room, giving almost the appearance of a suite. Fortunately, the flat screen tv can slide across the wall to be in front of the bed or the two seater sofa and table that are on the other side of the screen. Bathroom and toilet is typical plastic affair you get in japanese hotels but as opposed to the likes of toyoko inn or comfort inn there is a large sink with an illuminated mirror outside of the bathroom which allows much more space for shaving or applying make up etc.
This hotel isn't in my mind designed to compete with the sheratons and hiltons of this world as it doesn't have the massive facilities they have, but it represents incredible value for money for the mid-range segment, especially when we found comfort inn's elsewhere in japan similarly priced with far less comfortable and convenient facilities. I think that the kyoto citadines is slightly more polished that it is tokyo counterpart but to be honest I would recommend both of them highly.
convenient traffic with subway station near, clean and chic.Didn' t try their breakfast, since our room is equipped with kitchenette.Free internet, cool.English fluent staff.Room is not very big but sparkling new.Good supermarket near by.We love this hotel.
The Citadines in Kyoto is everything the Trip Advisor reviews promised. As opposed to the Citadines we tried once at Palais Royal, Paris -- expensive, not thrilling, no service - Kyoto is brand new, impeccable, lovely, bright, perfectly situated so that you can basically walk anywhere your heart desires, right next to the subway (which we never needed), the hotel staff is impeccable, friendly, gorgeous and speak excellent English (not so common as you will find out in your travels), breakfast in the hotel is not elaborate, but it is functional, tasty and inexpensive, rooms are totally quiet, beds comfy, the hotel is a tremendous value (leaving you many more dollars for fabulous kai-seki and the endless shopping that Kyoto offers) and I would move in if I could.
Decide to register and write a review because they really deserve it. The room is very very clean, tidy, spacious, comfortable, same like Citadines Tokyo, the location is the best, next to Subway station, the price is very value for money, 7/11 just across the road, bus station is 1 minute walk, the staff in Citadines Kyoto is very very friendly, they answer my questions very patiently, they teach us how to take bus in Kyoto, which bus to take, which station to go, etc. You can't find such friendly hotel staff too often.
Highly Recommended to Everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can find nothing to fault this hotel and everything to praise. The location is excellent as it is about 10 minutes from Gion/largest dept stores and main centre of kyoto. 600yen if you don't want to walk or 1 min from subway station and main street/buses.
The hotel is very new and everything is excellent and fresh. The room was an ok size. The bathroom excellent. Hair dryer, Iron + board+ Tv + Dvd player + fridge+ microwave+ kettle+ hot ring. The daily clean was excellent.
The staff could not have been more helpful or pleasant and spoke very good english. We looked at some of the other top hotels but based on reviews here and the location plus the price being half of the Hotel Granvia we chose here. We were very glad we did.
