This was the first temple we visited in Kyoto as it was nearby our accommodation. Lovely Zen gardens without too many tourists

Not bad, just large. The kind of place you pass through on the way to somewhere else. To get the best out of it, my suggestion is stop for a while a relax in the quiet peaceful atmosphere.

Not one of the tourist hot spots although there were a couple of tour groups passing through, this temple very near the Gion area was really impressive. There are several beautiful large buildings and some very pretty gardens including the raked gravel main one. Once you have done the inside tour you can then wander the grounds free of charge to see even more. There are some interesting screens and the dragons on the ceiling although not old, are great - and the bonus is that photography is allowed everywhere.

More relaxed atmosphere and not quite as packed as some of the other temples and shrines. A nice relaxing walk about in laid back pleasant surroundings with a few good photo opportunities

This Zen temple complex is on Gion very near the center of all the commercial activity. It provides a wonderful contrast to the polychrome shrines that cover much our the surrounding area. In short, I loved the truly Zen like tranquil feeling that temple exudes. Please go here
