Me and a friend went to this cafe on a very hot day. We were quite anxious about locating this place, given how it is hard to find shops in Kyoto if you dont know how the outside looks (this shop was located in a residential area and it looked like the shop was developed from a previous house) and in general, it is easy to get lost in Kyoto for first timers like ourselves. After matching up the sign in front to our screenshot, we entered into a cool, air conditioned front desk. There was a line up as expected but it moved really fast. While we waited, they gave us a menu to look over.I dont remember if they had an english menu but its not too hard to point at the pretty pictures and order. When we sat down, we noticed the place was packed. They confirmed our orders and brought them out not too long after. EVERYTHING tasted great! I mean everything! I had the green tea parfait. We had kaiseki lunch before heading here but still, we devoured our desserts. Service was excellent. as expected in Kyoto. Fantastic experience. Highly recommended.

Once you get there you might have to wait on the stairs to the 2nd floor, as the place is really popular and usually crowded. To make your waiting time less boring the staff will bring you the menu so you can go through it, watch the pictures, the ingredients (especially important for people with allergies or vegan/vegetarians). The atmosphere reminds izakaya style restaurant and it might be a bit noisy, but if you don't mind it and can ignore you're going to have a really good time. The food is delicious, a bit pricey but it's worth. You might want to take pictures of what you're served because it's not only tasty but beautiful. Enjoy!

I took the most completed ice cream - around 1 200 yen, yep a bit expensive..- but it's totally worth it! If you have to test something with matcha ? This is the right place, plus the staff is so nice and you smell green tea as soon as you get in! Be careful about the queue : could be long according to the time you arrive.

The ice cream parfaits here are AWESOME and are definitely worth the wait. I ate a lot of great ice cream in Japan, but this place was my favorite. I especially recommend the seasonal Sakura parfait if you are there in the spring.

Tsujiri is easy to find; it's on the main street in Gion and there is almost always a line down the stairs and out the door. The first floor is a tea store where you can buy excellent green tea. You also can get soft serve ice cream to go. In the spring, you can get sakura flavored soft serve with matcha powder sprinkled on top. It's amazing; we went back to get it again after we had it for the first time, but, sadly, it had sold out by 1900. Go early, so you aren't disappointed! The second and third floors of the building are the sit down restaurant where you can get the awesome parfaits. There is an English menu and there are lots of pictures, making it easy to order. Most of the parfaits are 1,000 to 1,500 yen each. They are quite large and more than worth the price.

If you are visiting the Shijo-dori area then don't miss this great little green tea dessert place! prices are very reasonable and the portions are generally quite big! (especially the sundaes!) the menu has pictures so it was fairly easy to order. the desserts are mainly served with green tea ice-creams, mochi and other traditional japanese sweets made with glutenous rice flour. i ordered the one that looked like noodles but its like a cold jelly dessert with bits of mochi, chestnuts and green tea sauce. it was delicious! would definitely recommend this place!
