“Kaiseki at reasonable price”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

This is a new-style Kaiseki restaurant. We have eaten kaiseki all over Japan, and in California. The price here was quite reasonable. You must have reservations. When you arrive in Kyoto, have your concierge make a reservation for you. Eat at the bar, or it is much less fun. You want to watch the chefs. The food preparations were excellent and innovative. This is a special experience. Adventurous children would also be fine here, though you will mostly see adult couples, friend groups, or teens.

“Completely blew me away”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

Wow, I had no idea what I was in store for. This was one of the best meals I've ever had and it was such a surprise. We were able to narrowly snag some reservations after hearing about this place last minute. The place was quite packed (with a fair number of tourists too it seemed). Our kaiseki was perfection. Every course was so delicious. We had some very delicious yuzu drinks as well. I dream about this meal still sometimes. When the bill came, we all had to take a double take because it was only about $45USD per person!!! OMFG! Get here fast before it really blows up!

“Creative food”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

We booked this place for dinner and really enjoyed the experience. Finding the place is not trivial and after walking in the area quite a lot, we took a taxi that was able to get there only after talking with them on the phone.
Food is creative, ingredients, taste and presentation. Most of the many different dishes were to our liking. It is modestly priced and therefore well worth the visit.
One point that needs to be improved is service. Our waiter only knew very basic English, thus it was difficult to understand what we were served. I think that many people come here to have an experience of ingredients, tastes and textures and would love to be able to know a little bit better what they are eating.

“Soul kitchen”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

This was really a cool place! Thanks to the dutch guys we met on the top of the Mori Tower in Tokyo, who recommended this place for us. Exciting and creative meny, cool and clever staff. I also heard that the glasses, cups, plates etc was made by local designers, very nice. Probably the chefs outfit was made by a local designer too, it looked great. It is the kind of place that attracts creative people. We met serveral artists the evening we were there, and had such a great time.

“Simple setting, surprising great food!”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

As a food and restaurant lover, this nice, simple decorated and a ltiile hidden away place is a gem. If you want a surprising, very nice looking and great tasting dinner, don't hesitate a second!
Value for money is enormous! Nice staff, good english when we were there.
If you like delicate food, in a suprising menu, go!

The place is situated on a little street on the backside of the sunroute hotel. You can easily miss it. No big signs.

Compliments!
