Easy to find from their website map. Tidy, clean quiet room. Beds are very firm, but this is Japan. A great location for wandering out to the temples, Kyoto is a great city for just walking around. I bought a 2 day transit card, but hardly used it as it was so easy to just walk and see the sights along the way. Massage chairs in the common area are an addictive bonus! The hotel was happy to hold my luggage on the last day until I was ready to head back to Tokyo.

Location of this hotel for me is the best because it's near the subway (higashiyama) station and it's right the center of walking trails.. Gion plus many shrines, temples and museums are within walking distance from the hotel.

First timers taking the jr n subway can be tricky. From kyoto station, change in kurasuma oike to tozai line n get off at higashiyama. From the station, take exit 2, turn right n u will see a canal, take second right( where the stop light is) then first left. They're both narrow streets, follow the bend n the hotel is just nearby. I've posted photos to guide you. We had a hard time n got lost the first time because twice we were given wrong instructions.

Rooms are not cleaned daily but every four days.. This is the only downside for me but everything else including size n cleanliness room are very good. Common areas n massage chairs are big plus too including the friendly staff n are able to communicate well in English.

Good location - Higashiyama station, exit 1 (no lift), from the exit go to the left and at the first traffic light cross the street and turn left to cross the canal. Turn right in the small street with the canal and walk in parallel to the canel. Then the first street to the left, a bit of walking (the street makes curves, keep on walking) and you are there. It was difficult to find for me. From exit 2 (with lift) go to the right until you reach the canal.

The beds are wooden and make noise when you turn. As somebody on this website advised, I put the two matresses on the floor and all was fine.

Everything alright with this hotel. The owners are very helpful but do not lose your nerves if communication in English is difficult. They are really trying to help.

There is a common space with tables, TV, DVD. All programmes are in Japanese as in all other hotels, even very expensive. There is water, tee and coffee available for free, a small snack in the morning and a vending machine for other drinks. The massage chairs are excellent.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room. I did and was happy.

This is a very clean, nice, and friendly hotel. Perks: located within easy walking distance to many of Kyoto's beautiful temples and shrines, close by subway station, and quiet lovely neighborhood. Follow the canal south/southwest for a lovely evening walk.

We stayed here for 3 nights. It is located in a very quiet area, in the back streets of Gion. Despite being somewhat hidden, you are close to shops, restaurants and, if you don't mind walking a little further, some of the most beautiful temples and shrines in Kyoto. Room is a good size (twin share) with own bathroom, balcony and access to wireless Internet. Very clean. Eco friendly - which means bedding, towels and rooms are changed less frequently (which was fine by me) but no elevators so be prepared to take the stairs. Light breakfast is included as well as tea, water and coffee. Laundry available (100yen for laundry detergent) and can dry clothes in dryer or on your balcony (mini washing line provided). Friendly staff, very helpful, great stay.

Room Tip: Go for second level to avoid lugging your suitcase around

A little gem for budget travellers, well worth the money!
You have your own bathroom, your own balcony, free internet (LAN), a fridge and a decent-sized bed. The wooden structure was rather squeaky, so I went Japanese style and put the mattress on the floor.

As stated on their website, room cleaning only every 3 days, including clean towels. You can have them more often, at a charge.
A small free breakfast is included.
The community room (open from 7AM – 11PM) has free coffee, water and a microwave.
And: 2 great massage chairs. I got addicted to these!
Oh, but no elevators and steps at the entrance as well.

The neighbourhood is fantastic! Just a stroll from some great temples and a lovely, quiet feel to it. Some nice-looking restaurants and a MacDonalds close by. If you exit the hotel, walk straight on to the Jingu michi and then turn right, you’ll find the cutest little restaurant, apparently run by women, just past the stone wall on the right. Very cheap and very tasty.

Like most "business hotels" in Japan, it's a very basic experience-- no elevator, small room, hard beds-- but the staff is mostly helpful, the hotel is very clean, and MOST IMPORTANTLY this is a STEAL for the neighborhood. On the fringe of Gion, an easy walk to some of the greatest temples and the main strip of restaurants in downtown, much quieter / more pleasant than the Kyoto station area. Hotel also has some great touches-- like the free massage chairs-- which make it an easy 4 star review.

Don't stay here if you're looking for super comfort. But don't miss this if you're on a budget but are looking for more than a hostel or capsule hotel.
