“A true look at Japanese Culture through WAK Japan”
Reviewed July 20, 2008

WAK Japan is a women's organization that sets up activities for tourtists to do that allows them a glimpse into genuine Japanese culture. They have a ton of different options from tea ceremonies to orgamie to everyday home cooking.

We did the Home Cooking lesson, where we went to a woman's house/apartment in Kyoto and she cooked a meal for us (complete with recipes) on what an average Japanese lunch or dinner would look like. It was incredilble. It gives you a more intimate and more realistic look into the life of an Average Japanese. The meal was delicious, the hostess was informative, and the time flew by. I was sad to see the afternoon end.

I highly, highly recommend this group. They were on-time, informative, educational and entertaining. If I go back to Kyoto, I will do more WAK cultural experiences. I cant say enough good things about the experience. You just have to do it for yourself to see.

Yes, it is a tad pricey- $300 USD for two people- but it was the best thing we did in Japan and totally worth every penny and then some. I highly, highly recommend it.
