Stayed here with family for 3 nights. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. For the price I felt it was a great deal for being in Kyoto. The hotel is about a block or so from the subway, so it is pretty convenient.
If I were to travel with family again in Kyoto I would stay here once more.

Hotel is priced well, a 2 minute walk to subway or 15 minute walk to Kyoto Station. There is not much around the hotel except for a nearby Mcdonalds if you are looking for an early breakfast, and a minimal amount of choice for dinner. Area is quiet at night and rooms are of adequate size (especially based on Japanese size). The biggest downfall is that staff speaks little to no English and English comprehension is minimal.

We recently stayed at Hotel San Crane after visiting Tokyo. The hotel staff were very friendly and polite (all Japanese people we came across were very polite), there are connections to the underground trains very close by and a McDonalds just down the street if you are unsure of Japanese food. The room itself was a good size and very quiet. The beds were a little on the firm side (perhaps the option of a soft cover for guests if needed would be a good idea?). We needed to send our luggage from Kyoto to Narita Airport for our flight home, I went downstairs around midnight and the 2 gentlemen working the night shift were incredibly patient and helpful. We worked through the language difference and got the paperwork sorted. When we arrived back at Narita Airport approximately 3 days later our bags were there as expected.

We also needed to do some laundry, when I went down to pick up the key to the laundry one of the hotel staff kindly walked me up to the laundry room and explained how to run the machines (very handy as most buttons were in Japanese).

Overall would recommend this hotel to others!

Room tip: We had room 708 from memory, its a corner room and the largest on that floor

The hotel is not very modern. But apart from the carpets and curtains are a bit worn, it is a really nice place to stay. We spent five nights there and were really satisfied with the cleanliness, comfort and service. I also visited the public bath a couple of times and it was very nice. For the price this place is very good value. It is really close to the subway and kyoto station is just one stop away.

Again a fantastic experience! We first stayed here in 11/2015 and now again in 5/2017; and both experiences were 1st rate! When we travel to Kyoto, we love to stay in this neighborhood.

Predominately, a business hotel, the area is quiet and feels a lot less touristy. It’s a great home base for seeing Kyoto, Osaka & Kobe. The subway and buses are just steps away, and the main train station is 1 stop away. The room sizes are large by Japanese standards, and very comfortable. We especially like the Twin or the Queen (the twin will be larger, but the Queen is almost as big), a bit more space in Japan is well worth the little extra cost. The staff is excellent! Kind, pleasant and a joy to be around. We even recognized some of them from previous stays, which is always a nice plus.

The bed is very comfortable and the style of the rooms is light with blue or mauve decor. And if you choose a room with a tub, you will definitely feel as if you have had a true Japanese experience. (We liked their baths so much, we’ve brought one back from Japan and installed it at home.). They also have spa style baths on the upper floors which are also nice. (As well as Laundry, just ask and they will show you everything and its a good price (reservations required)).

They also offer you the opportunity to have a Japanese massage in your room. I’ve done this 3 times and each time it was excellent. Let the front desk know and they will arrange it. It is usually an older woman who is a master of the Japanese shiatsu style massage.

There are quite a few places to eat nearby, as well as the main train station which has unlimited options. The Japanese convenience stores are numerous in the area and are the perfect stop for all your needs, some of my favorite meals in Japan are the sandwiches and bento boxes which are so fresh they are restocked twice a day, and if you want your bento heated up they'll do that too.

We will always stay here when in Kyoto!

Room tip: A bit more space in a Japanese Hotel is always worth the extra cost.
