This hotel is located in the Kyoto train station. It is very large and busy however the central location makes it easy to get around. The rooms were clean and comfortable and check in was smooth. There is a pool but you have to pay extra for it and the restaurants are very expensive.

If you want the most convenient hotel in Kyoto, this has to be the one... Situated in the JR Kyoto station building, the Granvia is a luxury hotel with something for everyone...

Some people don't like the station area, but personally I like watching Shinkansen come and go and if you're up for a day trip - stumble downstairs and you're at the platform.

The rooms are good though maybe not as funky as some more modern places. This isn't meant to be critical, but it's probably consistent with the style of hotel that it is (and it's construction date).

Also having a room at the far end of the hotel means quite a long walk from one of the two lifts.

If you can book the Granvia for a good price (don't bother with breakfast - there's heaps of options in all directions), it's a great choice for a visit to Kyoto or the Kansai area in general.

We are so glad that we have picked this hotel in Kyoto, all the staff are professional n friendly. Most of them speak v good English. The room is spacious for Japan standard n the twin beds are large n comfortable. Most surprising is they have a very comfortable stool inside the elevator n we all love to sit on it wishing the lift won't travel this fast. We would surely love to visit this hotel again soon.

We stayed in the Hotel Granvia Kyoto for 4 nights in early July. It was pretty easy to find the enterance to the hotel after we got of the JR train from Tokyo. Check-in was pretty quick and easy. There were a couple of young ladies who brought our bags up to our room. I think one of them had just started their job. She was a little nervous about running through the list of things to say in English.

The room was bigger than I expected and had a view of the train station. We didn't hear the trains at all. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was nice and had all the amenities you will need. There was wired internet in the room. No need to bring your own cable.

As mentioned by others, there is a huge department store in the station. A good place to shop. The lower levels have a grocery store and various food station. Great place to grab a quick (and relatively cheap) bite to eat or grab food if you are getting on the train.

You can get to the subway by going to the lower levels of the station and walking through the mall.

We had their breakfast included in our rate. A very nice variety of eastern and western breakfast foods. I don't think it changes much from day to day, but there is plenty of variety.

Great place to stay and explore the region

Everything is accessible from here. For breakfast, you have the choice of going continental or Japanese. Staff are very helpful. A bell person went out of her way to escort some friends all the way to the bus stop.

We were so pleased with our choice to stay at the Hotel Granvia Kyoto. The reception, room and service were second to none. Before our arrival, I had some last minute logistics that I needed assistance with and the staff was exceptional at meeting our needs. We stayed on the 15th floor, "granvia level" and the room was superior. Super clean, clearly an eye for the details as all the drawers were pulled to the exact same opening to show the guest the small amenities that were included as a part of the room. It even included traditional pajamas!
Many comments have been made about the location inside the Kyoto station, I found that to be an unbelievable bonus. It was so quiet and secluded within the Hotel that you would not even know you were near the active hub. I would stay here every time.

Room Tip: Stay on the Granvia Levels, included access to a lounge, and gym / pool.

This hotel is great for a short stay in Kyoto. Conveniently located in the Kyoto station complex, it is easy to navigate our way around the city. We stayed here for 3 nights over Easter weekend, and found it very comfortable to base our sightseeing trip.

Kyoto has many popular hotels, and we were not left with much choice having booked late, but we certainly did not regret staying at the Granvia. Rooms are nice and large, comfortable. Excellent service as you would expect in Japan.
