Some people spent million dollars to buy a view; I spent a few hundred dollars to buy an “experience”. This was the major reason I spent one night in this deluxe hotel. It was always hard to reserve a room at the Kyoto Station area at the peak season unless you make a reservation very early. I usually stayed far away to meet my budget. When I looked at this hotel every time at the station building, I told myself that I must try at least once to stay here so as to enjoy more time for all the facilities in the building.

So I did for my last visit to Kyoto and managed to have the last night to stay here before I left to Tokyo the next day. My travel agent tried four times to book for different weeks and I got four different rates, every one was higher than the other… Well, only once for one night, I took one option for a room with double bed and without breakfast.

It was a very busy hotel. Architecturally it was part of the JR Kyoto Station Building;
so close to the JR train station, with direct access to/from the Kansai International Airport, and the Kyoto bus terminal was just outside of the building, with lines of taxi next to it.
It was also connected with the underground subway and the underground shopping mall. At the other end of the Station Building, there was the lovely Isetan, one of Japan’s top department store. The Kyoto Theatre and a small museum were just next door…The “prime “ location really gives this hotel a lot of blessings.

The room I stayed was in standard size and comfortable. Bathroom was just like many other 4-5 star hotels. Guest can enjoy good quality shampoo product, body soap, makeup remover etc.
Of course, you got sleeper and pajama, complimentary newspaper; and lots of choice of wine in the mini bar. (They were thoughtfully displayed in the “drawer”.) Everything is nicely organized, clean and neat. How about the view from the window? Nothing exciting, lots of trains were staying there. Fortunately, it was not noisy.

I spent an extra 2200yens (I think the price this year could be more) for the buffet breakfast. There were lots of food to choose from, but not too impressive. Many were very filling stuff and you need a big stomach to make your money worth. The restaurant was very crowded…

Anyway, I enjoyed this experience as it helped me to save time and I was able to catch the last minute running around the building doing things I wanted to do before I got on the train to go to Tokyo.

I was very lucky to get upgrade to the ‘special room’ which is suite style on the top floor.
I occupied this room alone since this was business trip. What a relief-aid this room could give you after hustles and bustles of everyday lives and business.

1.view
Just in front of the Kyoto tower, this room faces north, the direction of the center of the city. How this ancient city is surrounded by mountains, how this city has refrained from constructing sky high buildings you will see that here. It is kind of rare to get unobstructed view from hotels in-side the city, but this hotel has huge clear area in-front and is located kind of peripheral area of the city center, so…you can get it if you stay upper floor off course. Enjoy beautiful morning sky view from your bed.

2.Room interior
North wall is mostly window. I have never stayed in a hotel room like this. Imagine one of the longer sides of your room is Mostly floor-to-ceiling windows. Windows have wooden vertical grid which serves as mild screen. The ceiling also has these bath has only glass wall in-between your bed, so you can see view from your bath, but you have to be careful to select with whom you stay. Jacuzzi…that was a bliss.

3.Bed
The bed was quite small if you consider the room is for a couple. But I liked this one, more comfortable than of the Ritz Carlton Osaka’s. The room itself is not quite large as a suite.

4.Bath and other amenities
The bath goods are the best I had ever in hotels. Quality, quantity, scent and texture. I am not sure that this is for all the room in this hotel, I doubt it. They seem to be for women, though. They also provide un-carry-away bottle of make-up remover and face wash.
Oh, Shower is 3 dimensional; rain, hand and ‘body’(horizontal)!
Drinks?
They provide nesppresso machine and refills. Two types of Japanese tea bags. No English tea.

5.Service
Nothing to complain. Nice, friendly and helpful. Ask them if you are to go for Shinkansen, even though you stay up on the station. Because Shinkansen rails are the farthest side of the station from the hotel.
The executive lounge provide free soft drinks and hotel made cookies, but no food. I went there in the morning and spent some quiet time before my Shinkansen ride. They have PCs there, too.

I will definitely choose this place again for my next business trip.

Room Tip: If you get Granvia floor room, choose north facing rooms which face center of the city and more plea...

This hotel is in a perfect location for exploring Kyoto - trains, subway, buses and taxis are all right on the doorstep for easy access to the many beautiful places in and around Kyoto.

It feels very large and was full when we stayed, but the staff were helpful and attentive. We stayed in one of the executive rooms with access to the lounge which I would recommend. The bed was very comfortable and we had a sofa in the room and view over the city which made for a very pleasant few days. The bar on the 15th floor was very nice - with a good cocktail menu and friendly service.

Nice hotel but overpriced in my opinion. Super convenient to train station. Lots of restaurants, all very expensive. Go outside to nearly any eatery in the station and get the same quality food at 1/3the price. For breakfast, go outside on the second floor and up one level to mr donut -two donuts and coffee for <500Y. Or eat in the restaurant for 3000. I would recommend this hotel based on convenience and room quality for short stays. Get a room near the elevator, it is a heck of a walk to the ones in the back corner.

Stayed here on business for a very brief one-night stay, but overall very pleasant hotel to be. Efficient and courteous staff, clean rooms, and decent breakfast. Ideal for business, maybe not as attractive if you seek more authentic Japanese style for your accomodation in Kyoto. No brainer if efficiency is the priority, with its optimal location above the train stations (without the noise in the rooms!)

Concierge desk was also very helpful in helping us find a last minute dinner venue.

Room Tip: The hotel exceptionally long hallway, due to the nature of the building location above a railway sta...

What a great hotel! I stayed here on a short business trip and needed a hotel located near the train station. You cannot get any closer than this hotel. The ticket office is directly beneath the lobby hotel restaurant. Staff was super-courteous. Efficient. Room was immaculate.Bed had a nice comforter. For convenience it cannot be beat. I took the Haruka Express Train to and from KANSAI Airport, about 75 minutes away. The hotel is one minute by foot away from the shopping mall attached to the train station. I loved the pastries at the bus ticket office in front of the train station/hotel entrance.

Room Tip: Ask for a city view room or you may be looking at the top of the train station.
