Pay 700 yen and you are allowed to ride a lift to the (not so high) 360 degree observatory on the top floor. Good commanding views of Kobe and its port but, for me, savagely overpriced. There is a revolving restaurant on one of the lower floors which, although cannot be cheap itseld, probably would feel like less of a ripoff, specially at night. I suspect most people (specially the Japanese) come to this tower as part of a triple package (tickets are advertised) that includes a harbour cruise and a visit to the maritime museum next door, which may well be make a more balanced and complete experience than the tower alone and a better plan generally.

When I think of Kobe, I will think about the Kobe Port Tower. It's a unique shape orange tower which you can't miss when you are in Kobe. Pay 700 yen to go up the tower to have a 360 degree view of the Kobe port.

An interesting structure with great views over Kobe and the docks, worth a visit but nothing special.

Other than the Kobe beef which is a must-try in this prosperous port city, a visit to the Kobe Port Tower is also a must-see in your Kobe attractions checklist. The tower may not be as imposing as those in other mega cities and may even appear shorter than other skyscrapers in the vicinity, but it is still a symbolic architecture of Kobe which epitomizes the resilient spirit of its residents against the face of adversities such as earthquake. The tower has 5 observatory levels, including the lowest level which features the see-through glass floor. Views of the city, bay and mountains are simply breathtaking!

The tower is not spectacular even when it is lit up at night. However the harbor area has lots to do. At most spend around 10 mins taking photos. Luckily Harborland has lots to keep you occupied.

The Kobe Port Tower stands high as a great symbol of Kobe City. From a distance it is noticeable and in the evenings gets lit making it even more beautiful

The best time to see the port tower would be at night when it is illuminated bright red. It makes for a lovely backdrop. The surrounding area is great the explore as well.

Take the trip up to the top of the Kobe Tower, to have a gorgeous panorama of Kobe. There is a couple of souvenir shops at the premise. ....one at the bottom and one at tower level...the one on tower level is the cheaper one though, with similar items.
