Osaka to Kobe, is a mere 14 min trip via the Shinkansen. The highlight was a hike to Nunobiki-No-Taki falls and beyond to Nunobiki Dam. Access to the hiking trail is via Shin-Kobe station, or via a cable car ropeway that also gives access to a scenic lookout over Kobe and onwards to Mt. Maya. From Shin-Kobe station the hike is uphill towards the falls and the dam. From the top Ropeway station it is mostly downhill. Your choice. Nunobiki-No-Taki falls is actually a series of 4 falls, the most impressive being Ontaki. A hiking map is available

If you are in Kobe go and do the walk, if no, don't bother, it is nice but only nice, not more. The waterfall are ordinary.

A strenuous walk up from Shin-Kobe station, this is worth the effort. You can also walk DOWN from the midway station on the Nunobiki ropeway.

Its a :" the journey is more imp than destination" kind of a place... the trek is beautiful...sort of reminds you of a movie set... when you start the trek its so green and lovely that its hard to imagine that its so close to the city....very pretty and very accessible...would recommend it to all!

This scenic place is a excellent way to spend the day close to nature. Besides the beautiful waterfalls and scenic spots that overlook the city, we also saw a couple of wild boars that allowed us to get closer for great photo shoots. The walk up can be very steep in some places so come prepared. You have the option of taking the ropeway both ways or do a single trip up or down.
