“Christmas Feelings Is In The Air!”
Reviewed November 29, 2012 via mobile

I was there last week for a short trip with entire family from Kyoto. Reaching there at around 8 pm and the view was magnificent! The illumination lights set up around the place was good to be true and my kids really love it! You also can see a giants christmas tree all over the place and everyone is already in the christmas mood. The negative side is that- everything is too expensive and the louds music played by the "wannabe" be rock star nearby the MOSAIC center had screwed up the serenity of the places.Still, worth a visit.

“before/after earthquake”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

I grew up in Kobe and know what it used to look like before the earthquake. They have saved a part of the harbor that has sunk from the earthquake. The historical display is interesting too.

“historical... a place to kill time”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

this place is very historical - the port area before the great hanshin earthquake. the history of this place is written in an area on the front side of the park. you can kill your time here overlooking the sea and some boats, there's an open area where some students (i think) do some dance rehearsal, some groups play with their skateboards, some just sit elsewhere while talking to their special someone. there's a wedding reception area in the entrance. on the other side, you can see a good view from the harborland area - harborland is just across the meriken park. flea market is also conducted here, i think it's every 1st and 3rd week of the month (sorry, i forgot) where you can buy lots of stuff in a very low price plus you can still haggle. =) it's very clean. there's also some art works here (sculptures) and there's a big old ship in the middle where you can take pictures, not inside though, and it's kinda like an old pirate ship. at the back side is the oriental hotel which has a very nice architectural design, like a half circle and its lighting is nice in the evening. =)

“Nice waterfront park”
Reviewed January 25, 2012

As with many places in Japan, this is very nice and clean. It is surrounded by water on 3 sides. My 9 and 10 year old and I looked at the submerged sidewalks of Kobe from the Hanshin earthquake. It is sobering and very interesting. We sat in the park and read/drew for a while. It's just a quiet place to sit and relax. There's a restaurant and museum too. the view is pretty---various important Kobe landmarks. it's a 5-10 minute walk to Mosaic/Harborland.
