Rooms are spacious, clean and quiet (stayed in the south wing), ideal when you are jet lagged and not immediatedly in sinc with the appropriate time zone. Plenty of restaurants within the hotel, although not all cheap. The buffet in SoCo in good value for money though. It is a bit out of the way, on an artifical island in Kobe harbour, but transportation (portliner) or the hotel bus, that runs every 20 minutes, is excellent. The only negative point is the suboptimal wired internet connection that can unpredictably fail (no WiFi availble).

I stayed three nights in the context of a conference which was held at the adjacent Convention Centre. This is a typical convention hotel: at a distance from Kobe itself, but easily accessible with regular free shuttles; it can obviously handle huge groups; several food places, catering to a range of budgets and palates. Of all the hotel rooms I stayed in in Japan so far, this was by far the most spacious one; the decor was quaintly dated (think Mad Men), but I loved it. Spacious bathroom, fine amenities, friendly staff. Recommended if you need to be on the Island for business.

The hotel is located on Port Island which is a short distance from the centre of Kobe, but they have free and frequent shuttles to two main stations in Kobe, one of which is adjacent to a main shopping area.

We found the hotel clean, spacious, good views, with a selection of restaurants to suit different tastes and budgets. The staff were helpful. There was free internet access in all rooms but unfortunately there was no wi fi available so it was necessary to use the business centre.

Breakfast was available near the top level which had fabulous views.

It is not close to nightlife bars etc.

We arrived for a 5 night stay and were put in smoking room. It smelled totally gross, but we had been traveling for 27 hours and were exhausted, so we didn't complain until the next day. They were very apologetic, and took care of moving us as soon as a room opened up during the day. The new room didn't reek, but did not smell great either and was very banged up and dingy. On the plus side, the staff was unfailingly helpful, and the shuttle into town was easy and convenient. I do think that for the state of the rooms, the price was very high. We only had meals which were provided as part of a conference, and they were quite good.

A big, clean, huge hotel adjacent to the convention center on the port island in Kobe. Nicely located on the Portliner monorail for getting to the center of Kobe and the little Kobe airport. We were upgraded to a suite, which was extraordinary, with separate shower and bath, a huge living room with a glorious view of Kobe harbor. The breakfasts were very expensive, but also very good. The outdoor swimming pool was closed, and the indoor swimming pool and health club exorbitant. The staff was incredibly attentive.

Stayed there 3 nights for a conference
- very clean rooms
- superb service at all levels...reception, concierge, inhouse, etc
- facilities tailored for conference events ... nearby JR line, neighbouring MICE, huge parking
- variety of restaurants and shops, in-house

Points to consider
- located on an artificial island some distance from town ....isolated at night!!
- cramped deluxe & regular rooms (as in many Japanese hotels)
- try the new Tower. I was alloted the older Main Block

I was utterly surprised at the size of these rooms! I had the pleasure of staying in the South wing which is apparently more updated than the main wing of the hotel and enjoyed a bright, sunny room that was huge, even by North American standards--for Japan it was downright palacial! Admittedly, the hotel does need a stylistic update but it was definitely comfortable and nice enough. The hotel has a convenient bus shuttle that comes every 20mins to take you to the nearest train stations across the bridge which takes about 15mins or, even more conveniently, there is another mini train attached to the hotel that will take you there directly if you don't want to wait for the shuttle bus. I found the breakfast to be fantastic and completely satisfying! I believe we opted for the Japanese/American breakfast (there are 3 restaurants offering different types of breakfast I think) which offered options such as danishes, eggs, bacon, sausage, etc along with miso soup, vermicelli, and other Japanese staples. I did find it a bit ridiculous that the tea in the rooms could be consumed at an exorbitant $3/bag but I suppose that's the trade off for the sizeable space you get. All in all I had a great stay there and would definitely recommend it to others. They also accommodate larger groups by pulling out sofa beds, etc AND the sofa bed is actually comfy!
