We had 1 night in Kobe before boarding a cruise ship. In researching Kobe hotels, I found them to be terribly expensive perhaps more so than anywhere else we stayed while in Japan. This is hotel is conveniently located a short walk to Shin Kobe station which made things easy for us on arrival. Staff are very efficient and willing to help. We had a club room but it was oh, so tiny and as someone else said, tired. Perhaps it was meant to prepare us for a tiny cabin on a ship it was that small! We enjoyed cocktails in the club room and dinner in the main restaurant as well as breakfast next morning was very pleasant. Had fabulous view of Kobe from our high floor room. If I was to return to Kobe I’d look to find a hotel elsewhere.

Thank you very much for staying with us at the ANA Crowne Plaza Kobe and please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience you have experienced due to the actual size of the room. We have discussed your feedback into detail with our front office team who may have identified your requirements more carefully in regards to which room would have been more suitable to you and could have shown you some alternative options during your check-in process. It is good to hear however that otherwise you have enjoyed your overall stay with us especially due to the excellent staff service, quality of F&B as well as the great views of Kobe and surrounding areas.

We hope that despite this unfortunate incident we will have the pleasure to welcoming you back again at our hotel.

Actually located in Shin Kobe it is just steps away from train station and a short hop into the heart of the city. You might find yourself overwhelmed by the attentive staff - they literally run to greet you. The only problem I found was that when asked a question they seldom had the answer and had to go ask someone else - wasting time.
Check out the grocery store + in the basement - comes in quite handy.
Be prepared to pay extra for just about everything - ice, the spa, etc.

There are two great attributes of this hotel: first, the proximity to Shin-Kobe station and its Shinkansen line; second, the view from upper floors. The hotel staff are helpful and speak English. The lobby is quite impressive but the rooms fall short. The common areas, restaurants, etc seem to be well maintained, but the rooms feel very worn and outdated. We took a break from Japanese food one night and ate at the Italian restaurant on the 35th floor; the food and service were great. Hotel lobby offers free wi-fi. Good, comfortable stay but don't expect luxury in the rooms.

Room Tip: Be mindful of room dimensions as you book. Some rooms are quite small and would be cramped for two...

Good location at Shin-Kobe station, not too far from central Kobe. Great views of the city. The room was large, but the bathroom quite small. The breakfast buffet was excellent with both Japanese and western food.

Booked a club level stay which was well worth the extra money - club floor is 36th floor with excellent views. Free alocholic drinks between 5.30 and 7.30 is a nice touch in a land where alcohol is very expensive. Our room was spacious and had a great view. We got up early in the morning to use the pool which was included with the club level stay but found that it is closed on alternate Monday's. This was really annoying and we should have been told this when we checked in. Nevertheless the hotel is well situated for the shinkansen station and as central Kobe is small you can walk to most areas of interest.

Located in only a couple of minutes walking distance from the Shin-Kobe Shinkansen Station.

The receptionists and other staffs were very friendly and professional. The club room has a nice view and is well equipped. The bath room is a unit bath (very small) even the club room and not exquisite in quality and design as common to most Japanese business hotels.

For the club room guests, the breakfast is available at either the executive club lounge or the restaurant on the grand floor. The executive club room has a similar square feet to the typical club lounge at Ritz Carlton (small). The quality of menu is so high but limited choices. The restaurant on the grand floor is much spacy and has more choices of menu.

There is a nice steakhouse "Kitano" in the hotel. You can enjoy a real "Kobe Beef" on "Teppan-yaki" cooking in front of you but not "Benihana circus" style. Now you may realize the real "Kobe Beef", totally different from the one in U.S.A.

I made this reservation because the hotel was near the Shin-Kobe train station (it's actually connected by a walkway) and because it looked nice and modern. I also liked the fact that it had a pool, fitness center and hot tub. When I arrived, I found the location to be just as advertised, but the pool was closed. I could not find anyone who knew if the hot tub was open, but I assume it wasn't. So right away there was one negative thing. I had booked one of their "club" rooms because it was on a higher floor and also included access to the "executive club" lounge on the top floor. When I arrived I was told my room was not ready yet (even though it was just a few minutes before check-in time) and that I'd have to wait a while before being allowed access to my room. I was given the option of waiting in the club lounge, which turned out to be a very spacious room at the top of the hotel with a great view and snacks and (non-alcoholic) beverages available. This was a plus and I appreciated it.

Now on to my room. I had booked a "club" suite, and it turned out to be a little strange, in my opinion. The "suite" turned out to be two rooms, connected by a short passageway which included the ridiculously small closet and the bathroom. The bathroom's "facilities" looked very cheap. The bathtub was small and the toilet looked as if it had come from the bargain counter at Home Depot. Oh sure, they were all very functional, but didn't look to me as if they were part of an "executive" or "special" category. The little "living room" was okay, but the furnishings were far from being luxurious, and the small window looked out on the mountain and the Shin-Kobe train station. Now the latter was fine with me, as I love to sit and watch trains arrive and depart. The only problem with this station was that because of the overhang over each track, you only saw a brief glimpse of the trains when they arrived/departed.

The separate bedroom was extremely small, but at least had a great view of the city. The bed was not luxurious or even particularly elegant or comfortable, but it did at least serve its purpose. At least internet use was free, which does not always occur even in more expensive hotels.

Around cocktail time I went up to the lounge for a nice drink before heading down to the famous "teppan-yaki" restaurant in the area below the hotel. This restaurant was quite nice and provided a very authentic Kobe beef dinner.

The next morning I took full advantage of the buffet breakfast that was included in the hotel rate. They had a very nice collection of Japanese and western breakfast goodies, including lots of pastries and even Japanese and western soups.

I would, in conclusion, give this high points for location, comfort and a nice modern look, but minus points for luxury and that "special" feeling.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the "club" rooms.
