If you love hot spring bath ..must visit. The town is on the hillside so it involves walking up and downhill with narrow street. There are a few small shrine and temple around town. There is a free foot hot spring to try if you are not in full bath hot spring.

We had an incredible time in Arima. We stayed at one of the traditional hotels and enjoyed an incredible experience not to mention the food. The town itself is gorgeous with mineral water available to try right from the ground. It was simply stunning in cherry blossom season. We had a delicious lunch at a restaurant near the bus terminal. The town is an easy 25 minute trip from Kobe (3 trains but they are all connected).

This onsen town is one of the oldest onsen towns in Japan. It's a pretty little village surrounded by mountains. We spent the day here hopping between a few different onsens. There are heaps of Ryokans in the where you can stay for the night, but they are quite expensive. If you are coming for a day trip we recommend just going to Taiko no Yu as it is a big complex that has both gold and silver baths and has everything that the public bathhouses have plus more.

We got here at 9am, but most things don't open until about 9:30am or 10am. It can get very busy here on weekends as it is very close to Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe.

A visit to Arima Onsen is part of our tour package from Yokoso/Club Tourism (1 day Kobe Port Cruise Buffet Lunch, Arima Onsen Town, Kobe-Sanda Premium Outlets). We were given 1.20 hrs to stroll around in the area.

Really nothing to see in here, just small alleys uphill. There is a small pool for foot spa in an alley, around 2.5 meters long only and tourists sat side by side. In the main road are rows of stores selling souvenir items and traditional food. No one is dipping their feet in the streaming river seen in the main road. Definitely not worth going here if you are in a short visit, unless perhaps you have a day to discover its beauty and you love onsen.
