We stayed here for 1 night. The room is quite small. What u should not miss is the breakfast. There is a selection of their famous milkish jam. It is really tasty. This is the first time that i have to queue up for breakfast in a hotel.

Mediocre, disappointed, past it's prime. I don't get prior customer reviews. This is not a 4+ star hotel on the basis of: 1) Surprisingly hard bed (wife and I BOTH woke up with stiff backs), 2) Room slightly bigger than business hotel, 3) No WiFi in rooms, 4) Un-charming commercial neighborhood (20 minute walk to restaurant district), 4) My wife and I were given only one old-style metal room key (must be left at lobby when outside). For equivalent accommodations, you might as stay at the cheaper Toyoko Inn at Sannomiya Station. There are superior hotels that charge the same price.

We stayed here for 8 nights in late Jan/early Feb 2012 whilst visiting a friend in Kobe and absolutely loved Hotel Piena. It was a very clean and quiet hotel which was just under a 5 minute walk to Sannomiya station and approximately a 10 minute walk to Shin-Kobe station. Our hotel room was relatively spacious by Japanese standards and had a bar fridge (with limited mini-bar) kettle and basic tea and coffee supplies, tv (no english channels but you can apparantly purchase more channels via an external process, we didn't really understand the Japanese brochure) aircon and heating (which despite the cold snap we didn't need to use very often). With convienience stores everywhere and a lovely bakery just a few doors down (not to mention all the great restaurants in Kobe) we didn't eat at the hotel at all, although the lobby cafe was busy in the afternoons. We don't speak Japanese but we didn't really need to converse with the staff very much anyway other than pleasantries as we had no issues with our stay, unsure how we would have gone if we needed to sort something out as it didn't appear the staff spoke much English, but that was fine.

Definitely one of my favorite hotels in Kobe. The rooms maybe a bit outdated, not fancy or modern, but well kept, very clean. Relatively big (from the Japanese standard, that is...)

Good service. Very friendly staff. They might upgrade your room to more spacious ones with no charge, if you are lucky!

I love the breakfast, too. Nothing fancy, but they have great pastries and even cakes. You have to try their french toast. Yummy!

They have a very nice patisserie on the 1st floor.I highly recommend their 'milk jam' as well.
