“Amazing Value, Surely the Best Place to Stay in Hiroshima!”
Reviewed September 9, 2009

This place astonished me - at first we thought there had been a mistake with the room prices... we paid backpacker budget hostel prices for an ensuite twin hotel room with a panoramic view of the river.

It's a huge place with lots of floors, so don't come stay if you're looking for somewhere cosy, communal and sociable. If, however, you want a large room with a [very!] little private bathroom, the sense of being in a hotel [fridge and tv in room] and amazing views of the city, this is for you.

the room was clean, large and very secure. not exactly brimming with japanese character but - thanks to large windows and incredible views - not the most bland of hotel rooms either.

the hotel is around the corner from the peace park, which is in itself a short tram-ride from the commercial town centre. we walked into town regularly though - it really isnt far and the tram is more of a luxury than a necessity (although it's very handy when you're heading for the train station which is much further away).

the location also makes the hotel comparatively easy to find - if you can just get as far as the peace park (the town's foremost landmark so not difficult to find) then you can nip into the tourist office there and they'll direct you the rest of the way. when you get really near to it you may be baffled as to where it is - yes, it really is the enormous building you've walked straight past, not the small hostel you were expecting! i think the hotel is also a conference centre, hence the size. it's a few metres further along than the 7-11 (also handy!!).

they will also store luggage for you if like us you're nipping elsewhere for a couple of nights and don't want to take all your stuff.

Stayed with my wife for one night on 7th july,2009 as an indian tourist and found the twin room very well furnished and very well maintained. Can be easily compared to 4-5 star facilities available to foreign tourists at very economical rates. Being near to peace memorial is also another big advantage .Just 5-7 minutes walk. There is direct bus from hiroshima station which takes just 16 to 20 minutes. All in all an excellent and memorable stay.

This was such a good find. It was close to the memorial park, easy to get to (via bus or tram) from the tram station, close to the tram stop to head over to Miyajima island for a side trip. Set in a conference building but not lacking any of the hotel comforts, the staff were as helpful as could be with advice, maps, umbrellas and storing bags. It has to be said too... this was an unbelievable price at 6,500 for 2 people for a huge, traditional style room.

This was a real find, thanks to all those who previously wrote about this on trip adviser as it was definately a winner! Only about 6,000 YEN for 2 people per night, that was for a twin room with private bathroom. This is the cheapest accomodation we have found in Japan, but one of the best.

We just asked at tourist information when we arrived at Hiroshima station, and they called them for us and said they had a room, so we booked it from the station.

Rooms are spotless, free internet in room (bring a LAN cable), big room too, we could even see the A-Bomb Dome from our room. Location is a short walk to Peace Park, and a 10 minute bus ride from the station. Hiroshima is only a small place so this location is fine. Its not close to restaurants, but you can easily walk to the main night life area (10 minutes) as its a really safe place. We walked around at night with no troubles.

Recommend a day trip to Miyajima from Hiroshima, get the tram, then train, then ferry (can use JR pass on both). Sounds complicated but very easy, heaps of people go there from Hirshima.

we arrived in hiroshima aroumd 9pm and checked in. we were amazed to see our rooms and how cheap they were. we paid 3200 yen for a room that was the equivilent of a 3-3.5 star business hotel.

what a great deal and amazing location. highly recommend it to anyone!

I arrived in Hiroshima very early on a Monday, and I didnt have a place to stay so I took the bus to the Peace Park where I knew there were some cheap hotels for young travelers. I was surprised by the price of a hostel called AsterPlaza, the building looks like a 5star hotel so I doubted to go inside and ask for rates, but a tourist who just passed me on the street told me to go there and show my passport, foreigns get very good rates, so I went in, the front desk staff was very friendly, I showed them my passport and I could not believe the price was only US $36 for a single room. The hotel isnt new, but its public areas are huge, I felt like in a luxurious hotel. The breakfast was included in the rate and it was a mix of western and japanese. (Salad, soup, bread, and juice). The room was very small but it had a western style. They had internet service and bending machines in every floor, and the best part, is only one block away from the Atomic Bomb Museum and Peace Park. Dont forget to show your passport!
