“Beautiful monument”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

The thought and detail which has gone into this monument is very impressive. The way the buildings and structures line up together when looking through this from either end of the park, is very symbolic and beautiful.
It's quite a solemn area, with many visitors there to lay flowers and pray for those people who died. A place for quiet reflection.

“One memorial for the 80,000 that perished on that infamous day”
Reviewed July 16, 2012

Its hard to fathom the consequence of the A-bomb detonation here. 80k lives incinerated in a split second. Basically this is a substitute for 80,000 headstones. Sad tone in an otherwise super-fun and interesting trip to Japan. Personally I had one distant young cousin that died from the blast.

“A great view of the park.”
Reviewed June 30, 2012

I found looking back at the park from this point of view very powerful. You will also find the eternal flame there. It is worth a moment or two stand there and look back over the area, as I think it ties things together well, both visually and symbolically.

“Little in Stature but Big in Meaning”
Reviewed June 29, 2012

Yes, there is the interesting veiw when looking through the arch framing the peace flame (both designed by the same artist) and A-Dome. Also prevelent is the seemingly very Japanese asymetrical style type composition which can be seen in many japanese gardens, room layouts and art. Very balanced and even.

“Gets the Point Across”
Reviewed May 10, 2012

Very moving when you look through the stone arch and see the Cenotaph with the Eternal Flame and then the Atomic Bomb Dome behind them. We stood for a while and watched the Japanese people stop to pray and leave flowers. If you go to the peace park make sure you see it.
