Owner description: This skeleton of a building is all that remains in the area where the first atomic bomb exploded on August 6, 1945, and serves as a symbol of both the horrors of atomic war and the hope for world peace.

It was very powerful to see this in person. It is a must see when visiting Hiroshima. It looks really cool at night when they light it up.

This is worth spending a few minutes to see where the bomb hit, the damage it caused to the dome and the immediate area around it.

Clearly the number-one reason to visit Hiroshima, this is the legacy of the defining historical event of Hiroshima in the modern era. Along with the associated Peace Park, walking around the ruins of the old exhibition hall is a gut-wrenching experience. One hopes that every leader of every country in the world will visit and experience the horror of atomic war.

So much history in a place. It was very moving to come to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Atomic Bomb Dome. What a dramatic reminder of such a devastating event. There was quite a bit of renovation work going on while we visited but it didn't detract from the experience.

The A-Bomb dome stands as a stark reminder to one of the worst human-inflicted tragedies in our history. Most are aware of the damage that the A-Bomb inflicted, but that the epicentre of its detonation was just a stone's throw away and this still remained, defies belief.

A must see.
