“Very nice hotel, restaurant a let down”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

Our family stayed in a corner king for 4 nights. The room was very clean, modern and fresh, as was the entire hotel. Room size was good and the bed was very comfortable. We didn't hear any noise from other rooms and slept well. The staff were excellent–friendly, happy to help and spoke fluent English. As far as the actual hotel goes, my only complaints are the lack of wifi in the room and the next-to-useless free wifi in the lobby area; the charge to use the swimming pool; and the standard of tea and coffee making facilities in the room. But these are all standard complaints for Japanese hotels, it seems.
I certainly wouldn't bother paying extra for the buffet breakfast, as it was of a very low quality. The variety of western food was poor, as was the quality. We ordered from the a la carte menu one morning, and while the food was good we had to wait more than 30 minutes for our order. Also, the coffee is $10 per cup, which is just outrageous given its poor quailty. There are cafès in the nearby train station.
Despite the restaurant, this is a very nice hotel and I would definitely recommend it.

Our tour put us in this hotel. It is conveniently located very close to JR station where you can take care of your meals, travel and shelter. The room was spacious and comfortable.

But, what's with NO wifi in the room? We were told there were gym facility and swimming pool, but as guests we would only receive discount to use them, not free at all. To use the pool, each person is 2000yen. That's over $20! way too expensive.

For such an expensive hotel, one would think all these come with the price, but it it was not. I was disappointed.

Great 5 star hotel, perhaps not as flashy as some 5 star hotels I've stayed at, but nice none-the-less. Paid the same price as I would usually pay for a lousy 3 star hotel.

We had dinner in the restaurant with the private teppenyaki chef, whilst a little pricey, was well worth the experience.

We, too, took advantage of the upgrade offered and were given the best suite in the hotel. As opposed to the complaints below, the Club Lounge offered free wifi (I too have an iPad) and although the cost for the pool was mentioned, I used it twice and was never asked to pay. Experienced a stunning sunset while enjoying the complimentary wine, snacks and wifi in the Club Lounge, had a two very comfortable nights in the comfy beds, enjoyed great breakfasts, and did not hear any nasty dripping sounds when it rained. Did I get lucky or are some people too fussy?

Location is right next to the train station, so offers great accessibility to all aspects of Hiroshima as well as food and supermarket products too. The room was excellent by Japanese standards - we stayed in a king deluxe room which was spacious and new.

The infuriating choice of star wood hotels in Japan to not provide wireless internet access in rooms will ensure that I won't be booking with them again in the future. Despite rooms have tethered ethernet cables, this is entirely useless if you are using an iPad, iPhone, Macbook Air or any other device that doesn't have an ethernet port. They do provide free wireless in the lobby though, which ensures that the area is constantly congested with guests trying to use the internet given modern devices are all wirelessly enabled.

The lobby arrangement is just plain stupid. You are met by staff on the ground floor who direct you to the elevators and advise you to travel to the 6th floor. After circumnavigating their restaurant and business hub (that doesn't allow you use Facebook) you finally arrive at the reception desks in a cavernous area. Then you hop in another set of elevators to get to your room. Entirely inexplicable.

The most offensive aspect of this hotel is the fact that it has a swimming pool - but you have to pay to use it. On the hotel website we booked through, there was no mention of the swimming pool costing additional money - and quite frankly why would it. I have never stayed in a hotel before that charged you to use the pool. That said, not only do they charge for it - but it is an outrageous 1600 Yen - about 20 USD per person.

The other downside is that if it is raining outside, the water drips onto the metal window facias all night light and if you can't fall asleep listening to a dripping tap - be warned. This will keep you awake all night. The only way I could get around this was to sleep with a pillow on my head.

Nice hotel - but won't be staying here again.

This hotel was an excellent surprise. It is nicely appointed, both the lobby and the room. the location could not be better, steps from the train station and a short walk to the streetcar. Staff was well-informed, pleasant and very helpful (like walking us outside and to the underground passage for the walk to the streetcar, to make sure we did not lose our way.)
We brought our own internet router to convert to wireless within the room (Apple) and had free access because of Starwood Gold status. Without that, internet could have been expensive (I think 1500 yen per day, and it was not clear if there would be a price per device or if the fee would have been for the whole room.)
This is a business hotel, and the food and drink seemed expensive. That is typical, given USD exchange rates and the general practice of high hotel food and beverage pricing everywhere. We ate out and brought some bento boxes back from the train station. Great selection of delicious and reasonably priced options there.
Hiroshima was a very special visit and an easy train trip from Osaka. This hotel made the experience very smooth. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: we had a corner room on a high floor. Nice and light and bright.

Spent 2 nights here, and were not disappointed. It's located right outside the station and although not central, still easy to access main sights and transport links. Staff were very friendly, and helpful. All spoke good English.

Rooms were very well appointed, great views. Had an executive room, with access to the executive lounge. Well worth the upgrade fee. Watched lovely sunset from the lounge before heading out for the evening. Only downside is that the hotel does not have a pool.
