This newly-revamped hotel is in a very good location in Susukino area, just metres away from the famous Ramen Alley (both the old and new ones!). It's also very near the subway, within walking distance of the Tanukikoji Shopping Street. Reception service is efficient, pleasant and helpful, and English is not a problem. Rooms are somewhat small, but amenities are on par with new Holiday Inn standards. There's a cosy hotel restaurant, but with so many restaurants and bars in the Susukino area, food options are limitless. However, there are many nearby bars and clubs, it tends to get a little noisy at night, especially if you get a room facing the streets. Overall, a recommended hotel!

Located at the heart of Sapporo City, it is reportedly a 3-star hotel in Sapporo, but with a 3.5-star standard. Flowers lined the lobby to a newly-opened restaurant beside the hotel where we took our breakfast. The Manager himself explained that the name and I suppose the management of the hotel has changed. The old name of Ramada Sapporo is now Holiday Inn ANA Hotel, a change for the better.

The superb location as mentioned by previous travellers allows us to walk to the shopping street named in Chinese characters as "Li-Small-Road". We stopped by at the corner shop and all of us bought boxes of snacks at reasonable discounted prices. We could see that other shops similarly sold and packed boxes of snacks for visitors, mostly Taiwanese....

The lobby of the hotel is small, but we did not spend much time waiting for the check-in, which was efficient and fast, although the staff did not speak fluent English. We were allocated a room at the 10th floor, with the windows facing the main road. But it was not noisy as there were few people and even fewer traffic at night. The room may be compact to some, but the beds and furniture were at the right places. The room offers complimentary water and coffee and green-tea sachets. We had a good night's sleep after a long journey!

The morning breakfast was reasonably good Japanese food.

Stayed here for 2 nights during the snow festival. Rooms are very small and twin beds. We wanted to have Non Smoking but none available. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The bathroom was ok, took awhile to get use to the door opening out and stepping up into it. Did find the rooms to be hot. Couldn't seem to turn down the air con. No wifi in the rooms so there was always people down in the lobby logging into the free wifi. The area is great with lots of little places to eat. The snow festival was wonderful and is only a walk of 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel.

Firstly i will just say that the location is fantastic.Right smack in the middle of Suskino which is the entertainment district. And right round the corner is the famous ramen alley...but you will have to really look for it as its a really small insignificant alley. From the hotel as you come out of the main entrance turn right and..walk about 20m..and keep looking to your right as you walk and you will be able to find it.Blink and you will miss it.It took me 2 nights to realise it was there after walking past it numerous times.Wont go hungry in the wee hours of the night as they close around 3am.Worse come to worse there are always the 24hours convenience stores.
Now about the hotel itself. Its obvious that the building was formerly a typical no frills Japanese style chain hotel judging by the interior of the rooms. Our room was mid sized with twin beds and quite spacious for a Japanese hotel.Clean and very basic.Bathroom was again typical Japanese type with the door opening outwards and a step up.
The room heater however was really stifling. It did not have a temperature adjument only Low Med and High.Even on low the room was very very warm.Luckily we could open up our window and that made it bearable even though it was snowing and like -17degrees C outside.
Room was facing a brick wall so nothing much to see...but was a bit noisy as we could hear the partygoers shouting and screaming in the middle of the night. And my upstairs neighbor had a heavy footstep and seemed to be walking around and around his room at night.
Lobby was small...and had free wifi...which is the only place that has it.The rooms had wired internet only.
We arrived early around 10am and i asked the receptionist if we could check in.She nodded her head and took our passports to photocopy. So i took it as our rooms were ready. After all that she told us to come back at 2PM when the official checkin time was.Basically English could be understood...just dont ask for anything complicating.I called down and asked for an iron..but the receptionist couldnt understand what i wanted. In the end when she finally said was it an I RON i wanted..i said yes.But overall they were patient and polite in the typical Japanese way.
If you are expectiing the Ramada standard than this hotel is not recommended. For us location was a big advantage so we might think of booking this hotel again if we do ever go to Sapporo again.

The hotel is located smack dab in the entertaintment district Susukino. Near shopping, transportation and Ramen Yokocho. Just like the Ramada in Seoul, no wifi in the room. Room size and bed adequate. The bathroom lighting indeed was a bit dimmer than the room. No problems here and can't really argue with the price.
